About the Role
The Manager - Buyer (Dry Food - Beverages) owns the end-to-end buying function for the Dry Food and Beverages category, from supplier negotiation to assortment planning. This role plays a key part in shaping company's merchandising strategy for the category as we grow our wholesale footprint in the Philippines. The role requires a data-driven, customer-focused leader who can leverage market insights and analytics to expand category presence, improve operational efficiency, and maximize profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Category Strategy & Execution: Develop and execute category strategy, assortment planning, and pricing for Dry Food and Beverages. Identify market opportunities and recommend commercial approaches to capture new revenue streams.
- Supplier Sourcing & Negotiation: Lead supplier sourcing, negotiation, and relationship management to secure the best commercial terms. Manage trading agreements, promotions, and margin performance across the category.
- Sales Performance Management: Monitor sales performance, analyze trends, and implement initiatives to improve category productivity. Set and track category targets, conducting regular performance reviews.
- Pricing & Trade Management: Implement pricing strategies and trade programs that balance competitiveness, customer value, and margin optimization. Monitor competitor pricing and market dynamics, recommending adjustments as needed.
- Team Leadership: Lead and develop a team of Assistant Buyers / Category Assistants supporting the Dry Food - Beverages category.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, Supply Chain, or a related field.
- Experience: Minimum 5–7 years of experience in category management, buying, or merchandising, with direct exposure to Dry Food or Beverages categories.
- Industry Background: Background in Retail, Wholesale, or FMCG preferred.
- Leadership Experience: At least 2–3 years in a managerial or supervisory capacity.
- Skills & Competencies: Strong negotiation, analytical, and stakeholder management skills.
- Domain Knowledge: Deep understanding of Dry Food and Beverages category dynamics, pricing, and supplier landscape.
- Execution: Result-oriented with strong planning and execution ability.
- Team Management: Proven leadership skills with experience managing a buying team.
