In British Columbia, mNPRs are developed in partnership with the Ministry of Health, the BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) and health organizations. JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client centred framework and continuum based care model and in accordance with British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM) for a Registered Nurse, standards of professional practice, Code of Ethics, and the vision and values of the organization, including Indigenous Cultural Safety, cultural humility and anti-racism principles, the Clinical Informatics Analyst supports the day-to-day maintenance and management of the organization’s clinical informatics systems and technologies utilized by staff and physicians. The Clinical Informatics Analyst champions the integration of computer and communications technologies and clinical change initiatives that automate and/or enhance evidence-based clinical practices, access to patient/client information and clinical documentation via the Electronic Health Record (EHR) in collaboration with clinical leaders, service and program managers and directors, physicians and staff.As an integral regional and/or Community of Care (CoC) based member of a multi-disciplinary Clinical Informatics team, the Clinical Informatics Analyst supports other Clinical Informatics Specialists and leadership, and works to increase the effectiveness, efficiency, accountability and sustainability of clinical initiatives that assist in the successful transitioning to a fully integrated EHR throughout VCH programs and services.QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Current practicing registration as a Registered Nurse with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM). Minimum of three (3) to five (5) years’ experience in a health care environment, experience using related current business (ie Office suite) and clinical technology, clinical change management, and project leadership. The work entails system upgrade and implementations throughout the year that involves the ability to work at any VCH sites, on nights/weekends and extended shifts. The Employer will give notice of changed schedules and locations as required, and in accordance with current collective agreement language.Travel within the VCH geographic area may require the use of a vehicle for which mileage is reimbursed in accordance with the current Collective Agreement.

 

Previous experience in BMT and Oncology portfolio required.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities• Demonstrated understanding and knowledge of designing, implementing and supporting clinical systems.• Advanced computer skills with current multiple applications relevant to the role.• Maintains clinical competency, practice standards of care, and knowledge; and supports the integration of evidence-based practice in the delivery of quality care/services.• Demonstrated experience in policy and procedure development and/or clinical documentation standards, business process analysis and reengineering techniques.• Demonstrated knowledge regarding new trends in clinical practice and information systems.• Demonstrated knowledge of project management practices, methodologies and principles.• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, presentation, oral and written communication skills.• Demonstrated strong organizational and time management skills.• Demonstrated knowledge and practice in effective problem-solving techniques.• Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with technical, operational and vendor staff.• Demonstrated ability to work independently or as part of a team.• Demonstrates change management orientation in their work and possesses an attitude of continuous improvement.• Demonstrates strong research and evaluation skills.• Demonstrated ability to be an independent learner.• Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
