Responsibilities
Promote and support highest level of safety, both personally and with others, throughout daily activities.
Extension research and implementation of methods to improve plant equipment reliability and capabilities to include overall system leadership in assigned areas.
Provide initial training and instruction for operating and maintenance personnel in theory of operation of new or revised production and facilities equipment. Shall assure that training and work practices comply with ISO-9000 guidelines.
Coordinate and work with suppliers, outside servicemen, and contractors on equipment installation. May work as a technical resource or in a leadership role helping coordinate contractor tasks.
Assist engineering in equipment shutdowns for capital and equipment revision upgrades.
Perform equipment start-up and debugging, which will require working nights, weekends and overtime.
Under minimal to no supervision, must work from verbal and written job instructions, manufacturer’s installation or service instructions and specifications, blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, facility plans and similar information.
Establish accurate documentation and machine control back-ups, such as PLC programs, etc.
Install new equipment and relocate present equipment as directed. Make alteration to and install new or replacement wiring and electrical systems in new or existing equipment and facilities. This often includes providing direction to electrical contractor personnel.
Have a good working knowledge of equipment electrical control systems to include AC & DC drives, programmable logic controllers, Panelviews, Egan CMR-2000, Ignition, etc.
Ability to effectively make PLC program changes and administer and lead a system of maintaining good administrative control of this process. This includes the ability understand and make good decisions about when a program change is needed versus using that as a short cut to solving the root cause of a problem.
Specify and order materials and labor to complete fabrication and installation of equipment.
Periodically, work with various levels of technical personnel on plant projects, when needed.
Continually work to improve electro-mechanical, electronic, CAD, expertise and design skills.
Work closely with Engineers in developing and maintaining drawing control practices. Shall be a leader responsible for maintaining plant files of all control systems.
At the completion of projects, assure that control prints are supplied with adequate documentation. This will at times involve extensive interfacing with Division Engineering personnel.
Create and modify electrical CAD drawings.
Work with Maintenance Manager, Project Engineers and other maintenance personnel to establish standards for control parts and where practical assure these standards are followed.
Provide effective troubleshooting and repair to plant equipment.
Answer service calls, including both primary on-call rotation and back-up to others for 24/7 off shift emergency breakdowns. Diagnose causes of malfunctions, make necessary repairs and adjustments, repair or replace defective parts, and reassemble and adjust equipment to proper operating condition.
Be a resource to Maintenance Specialist in determining and organizing electrical repairs and revisions during scheduled shutdowns.
Work with others to identify and resolve opportunities to maximize equipment utilization.
Analyze and implement needed revisions and projects to improve equipment capability and production rates.
Work closely with the MRO Buyer in standards for and stocking of electrical spare parts to assure adequate levels and organization.
Perform any similar or related duties as requested and work nights, weekends, and overtime, as business conditions require.
Qualifications
Education: An AS degree in an engineering related areas, such as Electrical Technology/Engineering or two years (60 credit hours) towards a similar BS degree.
Experience: Minimum of four years of related experience.

I) Equipment:
Must be familiar with the operation of plastic processing equipment to include: extruders, blenders, winders. etc. Must also be familiar with office equipment to include computers copiers and fax machine

While performing the duties of the job the employee regularly works near moving machinery. The employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles and extreme heat. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate with frequent excursions into high noise areas.
III) Internal and External Contacts:
This position regularly interacts with all levels of hourly personnel, support staff and management. He/she may periodically interact with corporate personnel from Customer Service, Corporate Engineering, and Management.
