Inside Sales Representative
Midwest Hardfacing / Duragrind, Inc.
Sterling, IL Area
Full-Time | Monday–Friday | On-Site
Compensation: $50,000–$60,000+ annually, based on experience
Build Relationships. Solve Problems. Grow With Us.
Midwest Hardfacing is looking for a dependable, motivated Inside Sales Representative to join our growing team.
For more than 30 years, Midwest Hardfacing has helped customers maximize the performance and lifespan of their roller and hammer mill equipment. We provide replacement parts, rebuilding, hardfacing, reverse engineering, custom parts, and equipment expertise to customers across a variety of industries.
This isn't a call-center or traditional sales-support position. It's a true sales role for someone who enjoys building relationships, staying in touch with customers, understanding technical needs, and consistently following opportunities through from initial conversation to completion—all without the constant travel of an outside sales position.
You don't need to walk in knowing everything about our equipment. You do need to be personable, organized, comfortable talking with customers, willing to learn, and disciplined about following through.
For someone who performs, there is significant opportunity to grow both professionally and financially.
What You'll Do
As an Inside Sales Representative, you'll manage customer relationships and sales opportunities primarily by phone, email, and other direct communication. You'll work with both existing and prospective customers, learn their equipment and applications, and help connect them with the right products and services.
Responsibilities include:
- Building and maintaining strong relationships with existing and prospective customers
- Making outbound calls and emails to follow up with customers and develop sales opportunities
- Responding to incoming phone calls, emails, and customer inquiries
- Understanding customer equipment, applications, and needs to recommend appropriate parts and services
- Preparing and following up on quotes and sales opportunities
- Maintaining consistent communication with customers throughout the sales process
- Managing daily customer follow-ups and ensuring no opportunity or request falls through the cracks
- Maintaining accurate customer activity and contact information in our MRP system
- Working with internal team members to coordinate customer needs, product availability, and project requirements
- Learning Midwest Hardfacing's roller mill, hammer mill, rebuilding, hardfacing, replacement-part, and related capabilities
- Providing professional, responsive service from the initial conversation through completion
What Makes Someone Successful Here
Our strongest salespeople aren't successful because they use a complicated sales script. They're successful because they know their customers, understand what they're selling, follow the process, and consistently follow through.
We're looking for someone who:
- Is personable and genuinely comfortable talking with people
- Builds relationships rather than treating sales as a series of transactions
- Takes the time to understand the products and services they're selling
- Consistently makes the necessary calls, sends the necessary emails, and completes follow-ups
- Follows established processes and keeps accurate customer information
- Makes themselves available and responsive to customers during the workday
- Takes ownership of their customer relationships and opportunities
- Can stay organized while managing multiple conversations and priorities
What We're Looking For
The strongest candidates will bring:
- Previous sales, inside sales, account management, business development, customer service, or related experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Strong follow-up skills and attention to detail
- The ability to build relationships and communicate comfortably with customers
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- A dependable, self-motivated approach to work
- The ability and willingness to learn technical products and applications
- Comfort working in a CRM, MRP, ERP, or similar customer-management system
- A team-oriented mindset and willingness to help wherever needed in a growing company
Experience in industrial equipment, manufacturing, machining, agriculture, mining, construction, mechanical products, replacement parts, or another technical B2B sales environment is highly valued.
Direct experience with similar equipment, products, customers, or industries may qualify a candidate for compensation above the typical starting range.
Compensation & Growth
- Starting salary: $50,000–$60,000+ annually, based on experience and qualifications
- Additional consideration for highly experienced candidates with directly relevant industry knowledge
- Performance is recognized with meaningful opportunities for salary growth
- Full-time, approximately 40 hours per week
- Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM–5:00 PM
- On-site position in Sterling, Illinois
We believe strong performance should be rewarded. As one example of the growth available in this role, a recent Inside Sales hire joined the company at $58,000 annually and progressed to approximately $83,000 within 18 months based on performance.
That type of progression isn't automatic—it is earned through results—but it demonstrates the opportunity available to someone who learns the business, develops customer relationships, follows the process, and produces.
Benefits
Midwest Hardfacing offers a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Medical insurance
- Dental insurance
- Vision coverage
- 401(k)
- Life insurance
- Short- and long-term disability coverage
- Critical illness and accident insurance
- Paid vacation

Why Midwest Hardfacing?
We're a growing company with the feel and flexibility of a smaller organization backed by decades of specialized industry expertise.
Our customers turn to us for more than just parts. They rely on our team to help solve equipment problems, extend machinery life, reduce downtime, and find cost-effective solutions.
That means our salespeople have the opportunity to become trusted resources for their customers—not simply take orders.
You'll join a casual, team-oriented workplace where communication, initiative, consistency, and follow-through matter. You'll also have the opportunity to develop specialized industry knowledge and build a long-term career where strong performance can lead to meaningful financial growth.
If you're a relationship-driven salesperson who follows through, enjoys learning how things work, and wants an opportunity where your performance can directly influence your growth, we'd like to hear from you.
