Description
Our client is seeking an experienced Workers’ Compensation Claims Supervisor to support their California claims operation. This individual will oversee a team responsible for handling moderate to complex California Workers’ Compensation Lost Time claims, including litigated matters, while providing technical guidance and ensuring claims are handled accurately and efficiently. This is a temp-to-perm opportunity offering the ability to work remotely.
Key Responsibilities
- Supervise and provide day-to-day direction to a team of California Workers’ Compensation Claims Examiners handling moderate to complex lost time and litigated claims.
- Review claims for appropriate coverage, compensability, reserves, medical management, and overall resolution strategy.
- Provide technical guidance on complex files, escalated matters, and settlement strategies.
- Monitor claim inventories, file quality, diaries, reserves, and overall team performance to ensure timely and effective claim handling.
- Work closely with policyholders, injured workers, attorneys, medical providers, and other parties throughout the claims process.
- Oversee litigated claims and partner with defense counsel to develop effective litigation and resolution strategies.
- Review and provide appropriate settlement authority while ensuring claims are resolved within established guidelines.
- Coach and develop claims professionals while identifying opportunities to improve performance and technical claim handling.
Qualifications
- 5+ years of California Workers’ Compensation claims handling experience.
- 2+ years of Workers’ Compensation claims supervisory or leadership experience.
- Strong knowledge of California Workers’ Compensation laws, regulations, and claims practices.
- Experience overseeing moderate to complex Lost Time and litigated claims.
- Strong technical claims, reserving, litigation management, and settlement skills.
- SIP certification highly preferred.
- Excellent communication, leadership, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
Compensation & Benefits

$60.00 – $65.00 per hour, depending on experience
