Description
Team Gilbert has an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated professional to fill the position of Custodian I, II. This position will work at Gilbert's new Advocacy Center. The Custodian I, II reports to the Custodial Supervisor. The primary functions of this position include:
- Cleaning, maintaining, and preparing park facilities, athletic fields, courts, and grounds — including trash, debris, and graffiti removal
- Operating equipment and specialized tools to set up and maintain athletic fields for games and practices
- Inspecting park structures, irrigation systems, and open spaces, and performing basic repairs and maintenance
- Handling landscaping, tree care, and storm cleanup using power equipment such as chainsaws and stump grinders
- Providing friendly, responsive customer service to park visitors and helping resolve issues on the spot

This position is FLSA Non-Exempt and eligible for overtime compensation. Employment with the Town of Gilbert is at-will, as outlined in the Town's Personnel Policies.
This role requires afternoon, evening, and weekend hours. In addition, this position will be expected to work some holidays and/or fill in for staff shortages during the week. Some periodic flexibility is a must.

You're someone who takes pride in keeping shared spaces clean, safe, and ready for the community to enjoy. You're comfortable working outdoors in Arizona's varying conditions and confident operating tools and equipment ranging from pressure washers to chainsaws and stump grinders. You notice what needs fixing before it becomes a bigger problem, and you take initiative to make basic repairs on the spot rather than waiting to be told. You enjoy interacting with the public and take satisfaction in delivering dependable, hands-on service every day. The ideal candidate will have previous custodial experience in a medical, healthcare, clinical, public safety, or similar high-use environment and understand appropriate procedures for infection prevention, disinfection, bloodborne pathogens, and handling potentially contaminated materials.

- High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.)
- Six months of previous experience and/or training involving custodial, grounds maintenance, and athletic field work
- Any equivalent combination of experience and training that provides the knowledge and abilities necessary to perform the work
- Valid Arizona Driver's License
- OSHA training and SDS training
This position is an At-Will position and is FLSA Non-Exempt – eligible for overtime compensation
