Description

Splendido at Rancho Vistoso, a Mather community in Tucson, Arizona, is seeking an Engagement Coordinator to support our Memory Support Living  through the planning, coordination, and delivery of meaningful programs, events, and wellness-focused experiences that help residents live with purpose, connection, and joy. In this role, you'll facilitate engaging daily programs, foster resident participation and meaningful connections, support resident committees and initiatives, contribute to calendars, newsletters, and community communications, utilize technology to enhance engagement, develop partnerships and special events, and build strong relationships with residents, families, volunteers, colleagues, and independent contractors. You'll play an important role in bringing Mather's Ways to Age Well philosophy to life while helping residents experience opportunities for lifelong learning, social connection, creativity, purpose, and wellbeing every day. This is a full-time, hourly position requiring flexibility to work weekdays, weekends, evenings, and holidays in support of resident programming and community events

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Facilitates successful delivery of daily schedule of programs: including setting up amenity spaces, setting up and utilizing appropriate technology, ensuring other facilitators or independent contractors are able to deliver quality programming experience, following Mather guidelines for welcoming participants, creating group experiences that foster wellness and engagement.
  • Contributes to calendar, newsletter, signage, and display development: As assigned by Manager, assists in creation of monthly calendars, flyers, updates presentations, and other in-person and virtual resident communications. Supports effective community communication through respectful and helpful interactions with residents and colleagues. Monitors and updates a variety of communication/interaction media throughout the community. Maintains holiday decorations/special displays following Mather guidelines to ensure dignity, quality, and brand alignment.
  • Promotes active program participation: by promoting calendars, utilizing effective resident engagement and facilitation techniques, and tracking participation, engagement, and feedback as assigned. Develops new program ideas and prepares for upcoming experiences in alignment with Person-Centric Wellness Model. Facilitates successful group and individual resident engagement by collaborating with residents to identify interests, opportunities, and ideas, designing program opportunities in line with resident interests, and supporting successful delivery of programs that may be led by engagement coordinator directly or by a resident, colleague, or independent contractor.
  • Participates in resident and employee committees and meetings as assigned. Participates in interview/documentation and outcomes measurement processes: Identifies ways to engage with residents regularly to seek input and feedforward in regard to programming and amenities. Gathers information about resident interests upon move-in and via ongoing check-ins. Maintains strong relationships with residents and family members via respectful communication, support of resident committees and resident-led initiatives.
  • Engages residents, family, and employees in community initiatives or special projects as assigned.
  • Assists in development and delivery of outings/external events, external partnerships, and relationships with independent contractors. As assigned by Creative Engagement Manager, ensure that all independent contractors undergo the Independent Contract review process with Accounting and Human Resources staff and that all independent contractors and volunteers receive Mather orientation regarding brand standards for engagement and wellness, Code of Conduct, and required training.
  • Collaborates with other experience centers to ensure amenity spaces, food and beverage needs, marketing opportunities, etc. are delivered successfully in resident engagement.
  • Facilitates successful utilization of technologies: including resident technology questions, access to and delivery of in-house channel and virtual/hybrid programs.
  • Identifies areas for improvement, proposes possible solutions, and participates in data collection and process changes as part of the Quality Assurance Process Improvement process.

SECONDARY FUNCTIONS

  • Creates relationships based on respect, using a customer-focused approach to problem solving, maintaining a courteous and professional manner through interactions with others. Communicates with key staff, residents and families in a timely manner. Maintains respectful and communicative relationships with interdisciplinary team, ensuring collaboration to support resident engagement.
  • Attends in-services & committee meetings as assigned.
  • Complies with Mather Code of Conduct, Policies, Compliance Program, and all applicable laws and regulations in performance of one's job duties; reports all known and suspected violations to his/her supervisor or manager, Mather Compliance officer, a Human Resources representative, or the confidential employee helpline.
  • Is part of an interdisciplinary team that supports the resident journey beginning at move-in. Implements best practices for engaging residents with diverse physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
  • Demonstrates understanding of and commitment to the company Mission, Core Values, and IRBI philosophy.
  • Uses discretion in handling confidential information, incorporating all Federal, State and local privacy and confidentiality requirements. Ensures Mather consent protocols are followed across continuum for resident content.

QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

Required

  • College Degree in Recreation, Arts/Humanities, Hospitality, Psychology, Education, Geriatrics or related field, OR 2+ years related experience.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and excellent customer service.
  • Collaborative, welcoming, positive attitude and enthusiasm for engaging older adults.
  • Self-initiator requiring minimum supervision.
  • Ability to use or learn a variety of tech-based services and platforms; i.e. Microsoft Outlook, Zoom, YouTube, resident facing portals, and A/V set-ups.

Preferred

  • Experience and skills related to spheres of Health and Wellbeing, Lifelong Learning, and/or Arts and Culture.
  • 36 or 42 hour Activity Directors Course, experience with Music, Art or Therapeutic Recreation a plus.
  • Computer experience.
