Description
Performs intermediate semiskilled and skilled work in a variety of building maintenance assignments. Does related work as required. Work is performed under regular supervision.
The hiring salary for this position is $20.60/hour to $28.33/hour based on experience.
The full salary range for this position is $20.60/hour to $36.05/hour to provide opportunity for growth and development.

- Performs general building maintenance and repair activities; performs carpentry, electrical, plumbing and mechanical maintenance and repair tasks; paints buildings, equipment and facilities;
- Performs carpentry, electrical, masonry, drywall, mechanical, electronic, and plumbing repair and maintenance work;
- Prepares surfaces for painting, paints walls, ceilings, doors, windows, cabinets, and equipment;
- Frames and lays out work to perform carpentry tasks; repairs walls and furniture;
- Installs and replaces receptacles and switches; pulls wire; installs light fixtures, ballasts, conduit, and computer wires;
- Repairs plumbing facilities and fixtures;
- Troubleshoots and repairs electrical, electronic, refrigeration and air conditioning malfunctions; repairs electric motors;
- Installs, services and repairs heating and air conditioning equipment;
- Prepares, mixes, and matches various paints, chemicals, and additives;
- Prepares reports, work orders, time sheets, logs, and records;
- Designs painting projects, estimates materials needs, and purchases materials;
- Prepares and installs signs;
- Refinishes furniture; moves furniture;
- Picks up and delivers furniture and supplies;
- Prepares meeting rooms;
- Assists with snow and ice removal;
- Assists other building mechanics and custodians;
- Performs custodial duties as assigned;
- Performs related tasks as required.
- General knowledge of maintenance, repair, and manual tasks of the area assigned;
- General knowledge of the use of common hand and specialized power tools required in the work;
- General knowledge of the safe use and operation and preventive maintenance of electrical and mechanical equipment required in the work;
- Skill in the use of equipment to which assigned;
- Ability to perform manual labor for extended periods;
- Ability to work from sketches, drawings, plans or specifications;
- Ability to follow instructions;
- Ability to estimate needed material and time required for various jobs;
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with associates.
