Description
Seeking Youth Coaches!
The City of Robbinsdale is seeking individuals to assist with our Tots Basketball and Soccer programs.
This program is scheduled to run from 5:30 - 7:30 P.M. every Tuesday and Thursday, Nov 3, 2026 – Feb 18th, 2027.
Coaching will take place at the Robbinsdale Academy - Highview, 3915 Adair Avenue N. Crystal, MN 55422.
The city title for this position is Youth Sports Coach - Specialist II - Step 1: $20/hr.

Reports To: Recreation Manager

Position Objective:
Under supervision of the Recreation Programs Coordinator – Youth Sports or their assignee, assists in leading activities and monitoring facilities of the assigned program: Tots Basketball and Soccer. These are 6-week long programs that teach the basic fundamentals of Basketball and Soccer to children ages 3-6 years old.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Manages daily activities at program locations.
- Communicates any site concerns to supervisor.
- Participates in all scheduled staff trainings, orientations, and meetings throughout the summer.
- Under direction of the supervisor, assists with the facilitation of activities for children of all ages.
- Must be able to communicate clearly with young children and their guardians.
- Follows established policies, procedures and guidelines.
- Develops positive relationships with staff, participants, and families.
- Follows established procedures in emergency situations.
Minimum Qualifications
- Minimum age: 16 years
- Previous experience working with children in a recreation or camp setting, prior playing, officiating, or coaching experience.
- Knowledge of recreation and sports activities.
Preferred Training and Experience
- 2-3 years of experience working with youth, preferably in a recreation setting.
- Current certification in Babysitting, Officiating, CPR and/or First Aid
Work Environment
Will be working with young children in a gym environment.
Essential Physical Requirements
- Occasional lifting up to 50 pounds
- Ability to assist with activities and stay engaged with youth of varying ages
- Ability to perform large and small motor skills related to the position
