As a key member of the ambulatory care team, you will:

  • Welcome patients and support their transition into care.

  • Take and record vital signs, medical histories, and health screenings.

  • Prepare patients for exams and assist providers during procedures.

  • Administer medications and vaccines as directed.

  • Perform lab-related tasks including specimen collection and point-of-care testing.

  • Document care accurately in the electronic health record.

  • Partner with physicians, nurses, and teammates to deliver high-quality, coordinated care.

About This Location:

The Aurora Family Medicine clinic at Rivercenter Drive is a full-service primary care practice offering preventive, acute, and chronic care for patients of all ages, with strong integration into a broader specialty and hospital network for coordinated, whole-person care.

1. Full-spectrum primary care for all ages
This clinic functions as a “first point of contact” in the healthcare system, providing care for children, adults, and seniors. Providers are trained in general medicine and manage a wide range of everyday health needs.

2. Strong focus on preventive and routine care
A big part of the clinic’s role is keeping patients healthy through:

  • Annual physicals and wellness visits

  • Immunizations

  • Screenings and early detection

  • Lifestyle counseling (diet, fitness)

3. Chronic and acute care management
The clinic treats both short-term illnesses (e.g., infections, minor injuries) and long-term conditions like diabetes, asthma, heart disease, and hypertension.

4. Coordinated, integrated care
Because it’s inside a large Aurora Health Center, the clinic can easily:

  • Refer patients to specialists (cardiology, endocrinology, etc.)

  • Coordinate care across multiple services

  • Provide access to on-site labs, imaging, urgent care, and specialty clinics

5. Family-oriented, continuous care relationship
Family medicine providers typically build long-term relationships with patients, managing their health over time and across different needs, from pediatric visits to geriatric care.

6. Broad service scope
In addition to general medical care, services often include:

  • Behavioral/mental health support

  • Well-child visits and school physicals

  • Women’s health basics (in coordination with OB/GYN)

  • Minor joint, skin, and common condition treatment

Your feedback matters. Every teammate’s voice is vital in shaping our culture and improving care. We value your insights and experiences because they help us grow stronger together.

Physical Requirements and Working Conditions

  • Must be able to sit, stand, walk, lift, squat, bend, reach above shoulders, and twist frequently throughout the workday.

  • Must be able to lift and support the weight of 35 pounds in handling patients, medical equipment, and supplies.

  • Must be able to: push/pull with 30 lbs. of force and perform a sliding transfer of 150 lbs. with a second person present.

  • Must have functional speech, vision, hearing, and touch with ability to use fine hand manipulation skills for IV insertion and other procedures/functions.

  • Maneuver foot pedals on carts or machines.

  • Perform physical safety interventions such as patient restraint and verbal de-escalation, if needed.

  • May be exposed to chemical and hazardous waste as well as blood and body fluids and communicable disease. Therefore, protective clothing and equipment must be worn as necessary.

  • Must be able to respond quickly to changes in patient and/or unit conditions.

  • Physical Abilities Testing may be required.

  • Additional department specific physical requirements may be identified for unique responsibilities within the department by the nurse leader.
