Overview
Land Mobile Radio Technician (GAFB-2026-25910):
Bowhead seeks to network with a Land Mobile Radio (LMR) Telecommunications Technician for an upcoming proposal effort to support the operation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and sustainment of Land Mobile Radio (LMR), Giant Voice, and associated telecommunications systems. The technician will install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair LMR equipment, antennas, RF components, backhaul equipment, Giant Voice equipment, speakers, control systems, and associated communications infrastructure.
The position will also support the broader telecommunications team as needed, including inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) infrastructure, copper and fiber optic cabling, and telephone installations, adds, moves, changes, and basic troubleshooting. The ideal candidate will have strong LMR and RF communications experience with the versatility to support multiple telecommunications systems in an enterprise environment.
Responsibilities
Essential functions will include:
- Install, operate, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair Land Mobile Radio (LMR) systems and associated equipment.
- Maintain and troubleshoot LMR antennas, RF components, filters, feedlines, repeaters, base stations, and associated communications equipment.
- Support LMR backhaul infrastructure and associated network and telecommunications devices used to interconnect radio systems.
- Install, maintain, test, troubleshoot, and repair Giant Voice systems, including control equipment, amplifiers, speakers, sirens, and associated communications infrastructure.
- Perform preventive maintenance inspections and operational testing of LMR and Giant Voice systems to ensure system availability and proper operation.
- Diagnose equipment failures, isolate faults, replace or repair defective components, and restore communications services.
- Utilize appropriate electronic, RF, and telecommunications test equipment to troubleshoot and verify system performance.
- Support inside plant (ISP) and outside plant (OSP) telecommunications infrastructure, including copper and fiber optic cabling, pathways, cross-connects, and associated equipment.
- Install, terminate, test, troubleshoot, and repair copper and fiber optic telecommunications cabling as required.
- Perform telephone installations, adds, moves, changes, and basic troubleshooting.
- Assist other telecommunications technicians with voice, cabling, ISP/OSP, and related telecommunications requirements as workload and mission needs dictate.
- Respond to service requests, system outages, and emergency communications requirements and perform necessary troubleshooting and restoration activities.
- Maintain accurate equipment inventories, maintenance records, work orders, test results, and other required technical documentation.
- Perform work in accordance with applicable safety, security, technical, and configuration management requirements.

Qualifications
- Education
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Associate degree or technical training in Telecommunications, Electronics, Radio Frequency (RF) Communications, Information Technology, or a related technical field preferred.
- Relevant military or industry technical training may be considered in lieu of formal education.
- Years of experience
- Three (3) or more years of experience supporting Land Mobile Radio (LMR), RF communications, Giant Voice, or similar telecommunications systems.
- Experience installing, maintaining, testing, troubleshooting, and repairing telecommunications and electronic communications equipment.
- Experience with inside plant (ISP), outside plant (OSP), copper/fiber optic cabling, and telephone adds, moves, and changes preferred.
- Required skills or certifications
- Working knowledge of Land Mobile Radio (LMR), RF communications, antenna systems, and associated telecommunications equipment.
- Ability to install, test, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair LMR, Giant Voice, and associated communications systems.
- Knowledge of antennas, feedlines, RF components, filters, repeaters, base stations, amplifiers, speakers, and related equipment.
- Ability to use RF, electronic, and telecommunications test equipment to perform system testing, fault isolation, and troubleshooting.
- Working knowledge of telecommunications cabling, including copper and fiber optic infrastructure.
- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, wiring diagrams, schematics, system drawings, and manufacturer documentation.
- Basic knowledge of IP networking and network-connected telecommunications equipment.
- Ability to perform telephone adds, moves, changes, and basic voice-service troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively with other telecommunications technicians to support mission requirements.
- Ability to safely use ladders and work at heights when installing, inspecting, or maintaining antennas and Giant Voice equipment.
- Valid state driver’s license required.
- Intermediate to advanced level skills in Microsoft Office software suite - Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint
- Ability to communicate effectively with all levels of employees and outside contacts
- Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment with the ability to work alone or as part of a team
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to stand and walk for prolonged amounts of time
- Must be able to twist, bend and squat periodically
SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must currently hold a security clearance at the Public Trust level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Public Trust clearance at this location.
