Strategic Workforce Development (SWD) is enrolling for AI for Work, a free, hands-on class that teaches job seekers and working adults how to use AI in their everyday work and life. The class is built around Claude, the AI assistant SWD trains on, so you leave knowing one tool well instead of a little about many.
What You'll Learn
- How to use Claude to write emails, resumes, cover letters, reports and other everyday documents
- How to organize your workload, plan projects and save hours every week
- How AI connects to the tools you already use, like Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- How to use AI safely and responsibly, and how to check its work
- Leadership for AI: how to direct AI the way a manager directs a team
Class Format
Four hands-on sessions over two weeks (Tuesdays and Thursdays), ending with a real-world assessment. Computers are provided on site. No experience required.

- Daytime — SWD Office: 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM, 402 E. Bannister Rd., Suite C & D, Kansas City, MO 64131
- Daytime — LAMP Campus (KC Digital Drive): 1:00 – 3:00 PM, 1801 Linwood Blvd., Kansas City, MO 64109
- Online — Evenings: Every Thursday at 7:00 PM, starting Thursday, October 1, 2026
