Global Sourcing Specialist

A Day in Your Life at MKS:

As the Global Sourcing Specialist based in India, you will be responsible for end-to-end sourcing activities for Direct Materials, supporting sourcing needs across India and the broader MKS global organization. The product portfolio is diverse and requires strong sourcing, commercial, and negotiation skills to support business growth, operational excellence, cost competitiveness, and customer requirements.

You’ll report to the Sr. Sourcing Manager in India and serve as the primary point of contact for assigned sourcing projects from initiation through supplier award. You will identify and engage qualified suppliers, execute RFQs, analyze quotations, negotiate commercial terms, and develop data-driven sourcing recommendations. Working closely with Category Management, Engineering, Quality, NPI, Procurement, Should-Cost, Supplier Development, and other stakeholders across global regions, you will translate sourcing strategy into execution and help ensure the right suppliers are selected and positioned to support MKS’s evolving business needs.

You will also help expand and strengthen MKS’s supplier base in India, identifying opportunities for localization, supplier diversification, cost competitiveness, and supply risk reduction while supporting global sourcing objectives.

You Will Make an Impact By:

• Executing Direct Material sourcing projects from initiation through supplier award and handoff, with a focus on machining, fabrication, and electromechanical commodities.
• Identifying and scouting qualified suppliers aligned with Category Management strategy and approved supplier requirements.
• Developing and executing RFQs, including bid packages, supplier communication, quote collection, analysis, and competitive bidding.
• Evaluating suppliers based on cost, capability, capacity, quality, lead time, and supply risk and developing data-driven supplier recommendations.
• Analyzing quotations, cost breakdowns, historical pricing, and market data to identify cost reduction and cost avoidance opportunities.
• Negotiating pricing, lead times, minimum order quantities, payment terms, and other commercial conditions within established authority.
• Driving sourcing projects through the 6-Gate Sourcing Process, managing actions, deliverables, decisions, timelines, documentation, and required approvals.
• Coordinating cross-functional activities with Category Management, Engineering, Quality, Procurement, Should-Cost, Supplier Development, and other stakeholders to drive sourcing decisions and resolve issues.
• Supporting supplier diversification, localization, and dual-sourcing initiatives while identifying and escalating risks that may impact cost, schedule, quality, or continuity of supply.
• Communicating sourcing recommendations, project status, risks, and decisions to stakeholders and ensuring an effective handoff of awarded business to Procurement for ongoing production management.

Skills You Bring:

• Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering, or a related discipline.
• Minimum of 5 - 8 years of experience in sourcing, procurement, supply chain, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across functions and with suppliers.
• Demonstrated experience executing sourcing activities, including supplier identification, RFQs/RFPs, bid analysis, supplier selection, and commercial negotiations.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and cost drivers, including machining, fabrication, and electro-mechanical assembly.
• Practical experience in evaluating suppliers based on cost, capability, capacity, lead time, quality, and supply risk.
• Strong analytical skills with the ability to evaluate quotations, cost breakdowns, and total cost of ownership.
• Ability to manage multiple sourcing projects, priorities, and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and other standard procurement/supply chain tools.
• Ability to travel up to 30% of the time.

Preferred Skills:

• Master’s Degree or MBA
• Experience working with ERP and/or PLM systems such as SAP, Oracle, or Agile.
• Experience with project management and data analytic tools.

Physical Demands and Working Conditions:

• Ability to work onsite with flexibility to accommodate meetings across global time zones.
• Perform activities such as sitting, standing, or typing for extended periods of time.
• Occasionally moves/positions objects up to 15 pounds.
• Ability to remain in a stationary position for 40% of the time.
• Must be able to communicate information and ideas so others will understand.
• Must be able to exchange accurate information.
• Ability to observe documents and details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
• Operates in a professional office and/or manufacturing environment.
• Constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery.
• Noise level in the work environment is usually average.
