Budget Analyst

Position Summary

The Budget Analyst supports the development, monitoring, and administration of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets. This position performs financial research and analysis, prepares reports, manages budget data within the MUNIS system, and collaborates with departments to ensure accurate budget planning and compliance with City policies and procedures.Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Assist with preparation and coordination of the City’s annual operating and capital budgets
• Analyze budget requests, expenditures, and revenue forecasts to ensure accuracy and alignment with financial goals
• Conduct ongoing financial monitoring and variance analysis, identifying trends and recommending corrective actions
• Provide technical support to departments on budget guidelines, procedures, and financial reporting
• Prepare budget reports, presentations, and data dashboards for leadership, departments, and City Commission
• Maintain and update budget information in MUNIS financial system, ensuring integrity and accuracy of financial data
• Assist with development of budget policies, internal controls, and process improvements
• Participate in year-end closing, forecasting, and mid-year budget review processes
• Conduct research and financial modeling to support policy and operational decision-making
• Perform other duties as assigned

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Public Administration, Accounting, Economics, or related field
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in governmental or municipal budgeting
• Experience with financial systems; MUNIS experience strongly preferred
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, lookups, data modeling, charts)

Must possess a valid Florida driver’s license with satisfactory driving record held throughout employment.
