Salary Range: $22 - $23 per hour
Position Summary:
The Reefer Warehouse Associate plays a critical role in the safe and efficient handling of refrigerated and temperature-sensitive cargo throughout the warehouse and cross-dock operation. This position is responsible for loading, unloading, inspecting, staging, and preparing freight for delivery while maintaining the integrity and condition of temperature-sensitive shipments.
The ideal candidate is dependable, safety-focused, detail-oriented, and customer-service driven, with the ability to work in a fast-paced warehouse environment. This position works closely with customers, drivers, warehouse personnel, and other departments to ensure freight is handled accurately, efficiently, and on schedule.
Start times may be as early as 5:00 AM.
Requirements
Key Responsibilities:
- Load and unload refrigerated, frozen, and temperature-sensitive cargo from containers, trucks, trailers, and docks.
- Safely move, stage, and organize freight for pickup and delivery.
- Inspect incoming and outgoing freight for damage, discrepancies, labeling, and packaging concerns.
- Handle temperature-sensitive cargo according to company procedures to maintain product integrity.
- Monitor freight movement and ensure shipments are properly staged and secured.
- Review and process bills of lading, shipping documents, and delivery paperwork.
- Verify shipment quantities, pieces, and related information.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, scanners, and other warehouse equipment.
- Use electronic devices and scanners to track and document shipments.
- Provide professional and courteous customer service to customers, drivers, and internal staff.
- Address customer and freight concerns promptly and escalate unresolved issues to management.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe warehouse and dock area.
- Work effectively with warehouse, transportation, customer service, and other departments.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, safety rules, and applicable regulations.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Work overtime, weekends, holidays, or adjusted schedules as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned
Skills and Qualifications:
- Warehouse, freight, transportation, logistics, or cross-dock experience preferred.
- Experience loading and unloading containers, trucks, or trailers.
- Refrigerated, frozen, perishable, or temperature-sensitive cargo experience preferred.
- Forklift experience preferred; certification a plus.
- Experience with pallet jacks and other material-handling equipment preferred.
- Basic math and strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to accurately identify freight and documentation.
- Customer-service oriented with professional communication skills.
- Comfortable using scanners, tablets, computers, GPS, and other electronic devices.
- Ability to follow written and verbal instructions and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Must maintain regular and predictable attendance.
- Must be available for early morning start times, as early as 5:00 AM.
- Must be willing to work overtime as needed.
- Must comply with the Company's drug and alcohol testing requirements.
Physical Requirements & Work Environment
- Regularly stand, walk, bend, stoop, kneel, reach, climb, and work on your feet for extended periods.
- Lift, carry, push, pull, and move freight of varying sizes and weights.
- Safely load and unload refrigerated and temperature-sensitive cargo.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, hand trucks, and other equipment as assigned.
- Work safely around forklifts, trucks, containers, loading equipment, and other warehouse activity.
- Work in refrigerated and temperature-controlled environments for extended periods.
- Work indoors and outdoors and in varying weather conditions.
- Maintain good hand, eye, and foot coordination for safe equipment and freight handling.
- Follow all warehouse, dock, pedestrian, and equipment safety procedures.
- Maintain regular and predictable attendance and report to scheduled shifts on time.
