We believe in providing our employees with opportunities for growth and development, to help them reach their full potential, in an environment where everyone can thrive.
We are looking for a talented individual who shares our values to join our team as Data Analyst. This position reports to the Divisional General Manager.
Job Purpose
The Data Analyst is responsible for collecting, analyzing, interpreting, and presenting business data to provide actionable insights that support informed decision-making and improve business performance across the GEL Services Division.
The role will primarily support the Division’s retail businesses and shared service functions by analyzing operational, financial, customer, workforce, and other business data to identify trends, opportunities, risks, and areas for improvement. The Data Analyst will develop and maintain meaningful reports, dashboards, KPIs, and other analytical tools, and work collaboratively with business leaders and functional teams to translate data into practical recommendations that improve performance, efficiency, profitability, customer experience, and service delivery.
The role requires strong analytical and business acumen, attention to detail, and the ability to communicate complex information clearly and effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Knowledge & Technical Competencies
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
Advanced data analysis and interpretation skills, with the ability to identify trends, patterns, relationships, variances, and business drivers within complex datasets.
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including complex formulas, pivot tables, lookups, data modelling, data validation, and data visualization.
Proficiency in business intelligence and data visualization tools, preferably Power BI, with the ability to develop interactive dashboards and management reports.
Data cleaning, preparation and management skills, including data extraction, cleansing, transformation, validation, reconciliation, and quality assurance.
Knowledge of SQL or other data querying tools and the ability to retrieve and manipulate data from databases and multiple business systems.
Experience working with ERP, POS, HRIS, CRM, financial, retail, and/or operational systems and integrating data from multiple sources.
KPI and performance measurement capability, including the ability to develop meaningful metrics aligned with business objectives.
Report automation and process improvement skills, with the ability to identify opportunities to reduce manual reporting and improve the efficiency and consistency of information delivery.
Data visualization and presentation skills, with the ability to present complex information in a clear, concise, and commercially meaningful manner.
Strong business and financial acumen, including an understanding of revenue, costs, profitability, productivity, budgets, targets, and operational performance.
Strong analytical problem-solving and critical-thinking skills, with the ability to investigate the underlying causes of business issues rather than simply report results.
Ability to translate data into actionable business recommendations and communicate the implications of analysis to non-technical stakeholders.
Strong stakeholder management and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively with leaders and teams across different businesses and functions.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy, integrity, confidentiality, and reliability.
