Who are we hiring?
Sphere Studios is seeking a detailed-focused camera expert to build and execute quality assurance testing for next-gen ultra-high resolution cinema hardware. We are developing custom camera systems from the ground-up, and the Sr. Specialist, Quality Assurance is vital to taking our hardware testing processes to the next stage of quality and efficiency. This individual contributor reports to the Imaging Systems Senior Director and requires working with personnel across the entire Sphere pipeline including; production crews, hardware engineers, software developers, post-production crews, and third-party vendors to develop and scale repeatable software, hardware, and firmware tests (and subsequent documentation) for analysis and reporting. Must be able to work with cinema camera and lensing systems with minimal supervision on tight deadlines.
What will you do?
- Develop project timelines and coordinate cross-department deliverables and implement project strategies to ensure Project Requirements Documents (PRDs) are completed and delivered on schedule.
- Administer and maintain project management software tools, including Jira , Confluence , and tests documentation. Manage, maintain project databases, and track issues through resolution.
- Develop and implement processes that enable studio users to effectively document, communicate and track issues through resolution.
- Serve as a liaison between studio users and development engineers, ensuring clear communication and understanding of system failures, root causes, and proposed solutions aligned with product development priorities.
- Document repairs to Big Sky hardware and coordinate with external resources as necessary, & maintain the studio MER Recorders.
- Coordinate internal workflows within the studio, communicate product changes, software and hardware upgrades, maintenance needs and software bugs to studio stakeholders.
- Perform BigSky firmware/software testing for development upgrades, provide feedback to the engineers and document results and assist with implementation of these upgrades.
- Assist with troubleshooting issues for product users and document issues for engineers.
- Maintain a stakeholder-approved process validation procedures for studio systems and workflows. Execute validation testing, document results and ensure solutions meet established studio requirements.
- Provide exceptional experiences for our guests, partners, and team members, including by adhering to our appearance and presentation guidelines while on-site.
What do you need to succeed?
- 7+ years of experience within camera and near-camera imaging roles, with on-set production experience.
- 3+ years as a QA as a tester and/or similar experience with testing on cinema camera hardware, firmware, lensing, and an understanding of post processes and production knowledge.
- Self-starter who can work with minimal supervising.
- Superb communication, and team management skills with the ability to define problems, collect data and provide recommendations and conclusions.
- Experience troubleshooting camera hardware and software issues, with a deep understanding of professional cinema cameras.
- Experience writing and executing test plans for hardware and image processing.
- Experience initiating collaborative efforts with QA contractors, staff and third-party partners.
- Able to explain complex ideas clearly to non-technical audiences.
- Occasional travel – 5%
