Description
This position is responsible for co-development and execution of product strategies and increasing sales and profitability of assigned specific product categories through correct product selection, display, price, and promotions.
You’ll Be Successful With
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration preferred (relevant experience can be substituted for the required education on the basis of one calendar year of experience for one academic year of education)
- Five years of merchandising experience required
- Knowledge of general merchandising and inventory management experience required
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Intermediate to advance level Excel)
- Must be detail oriented and highly organized
- Ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work in a fast-paced environment
- Excellent interpersonal and team building skills
Your Day Consists Of
- Develop category plans based upon strategic plan and ensure the team executes the product strategies in alignment with the strategic plan
- Responsible for specific category full lifecycle of buying including sourcing, planning, buying, analysis, assortment selection, advertising/promotion, and planograms
- Fully engage in the buying processes for a category developing vendor relations, product selection, negotiations, promotion planning and communications with inventory and store planning teams to ensure product is in stock and displayed correctly to planogram. Manage processes across staff to ensure consistency and quality of plan execution
- Develop promotional strategies for the entire category and ensure alignment within the category
- Help establish category and individual objectives and hold team accountable for meeting objectives
Working Conditions (travel & environment)
- Moderate to extensive travel required including air and car travel.
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to a warehouse environment and moving vehicles. The noise level in the work environment is typically quiet to moderate.
PHYSICAL/SENSORY REQUIREMENTS
Sedentary Work – Ability to exert 10 - 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
