Job Summary
Iron Mountain is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Smart Hands Information Technology (IT) Support Specialist to join our Data Center Operations team.
In this role, you will be responsible for providing critical on-site technical assistance, performing physical hardware installations, maintaining network connectivity, and supporting remote engineering teams to ensure optimal data center performance.
You will join a dynamic, collaborative team dedicated to delivering high-availability technical infrastructure support and maintaining seamless operational continuity.
What You’ll Do
In this role, you will:
Perform Physical Hardware Maintenance & Support: Execute on-site hardware handling—including racking, stacking, cabling, and component replacements (hard drives, memory modules, processors)—to ensure data center assets are accurately maintained, logged, and deployed.
Collaborate with Remote Teams & Clients: Execute technical instructions and runbooks in coordination with remote engineers and customers to perform initial hardware configurations, basic network switch setup, device power cycling, and troubleshooting.
Ensure Compliance & Operational Standards: Adhere strictly to secure data center access, safety procedures, and security protocols while performing visual alarm inspections, incident reporting, and maintaining meticulous work records for compliance audits.
What You’ll Bring
The ideal candidate will have:
1–4 years of experience in Information Technology (IT) hardware maintenance or data center operations.
Strong knowledge of server, storage, and networking hardware, as well as copper and fiber cabling standards.
Proven ability in technical problem-solving, reading system diagrams, following precise instructions, and managing clear communication with remote teams.
Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Electronics, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience). Exposure to Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL) frameworks or network certifications is preferred.
