Type of Employment: This is a regular, full-time position, onsite, reporting to the Operational Technology Manager

Compensation: Competitive pay corresponding with experience and role level; specific salary details will be discussed during the hiring process

 

The Opportunity:

Homer Electric Association (HEA) is a member-owned electric utility serving the central and southern areas of the Kenai Peninsula in Alaska! We are excited to be seeking a SCADA Communications Engineer to join our team at our Kenai, Alaska location.

 

In this role, you'll have the opportunity to:

  • Lead planning, develop layouts and recommendations, monitor and track transmission, distribution and substation design and preventative maintenance to insure total system reliability.
  • Lead planning, develop, design, specify, review, analyze, and correct and implement generation, transmission and distribution system and equipment protection and overall interlocking system coordination.
  • Lead planning, develop, design, specify, review, analyze and correct SCADA system functions including generation, transmission, and distribution dispatch.
  • Lead planning, develop, design, specify, review, analyze and correct communication system infrastructure necessary to support system wide Corporate and SCADA networks, HEA radio system and other systems as assigned. This includes fiber, LAN/WAN, microwave, radio, and similar systems.
  • Develop and implement standards and specifications for the design and construction of Cooperative generation, transmission, distribution, SCADA and communication systems ensuring compliance to applicable codes and standards.

 

What makes you a good fit:

  • ABET accredited Bachelor's Degree in electrical engineering or related field required; in lieu of the degree requirement an additional six (6) years of experience may replace the degree requirement.
  • Four (4) years of progressively responsible electrical engineering experience required.
  • Satisfactory completion of the Engineering Intern (EI), Engineer in Training (EIT), or Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam from a state licensing board, preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license from a state licensing board, preferred.
  • Must submit a valid Alaska Driver's license within 90 days of hire date, and maintain a good driving record
