Job Summary and Responsibilities

As our Dietitian Clinical Lead, you will screen, assess, develop, and implement nutrition care plans based on patients' nutritional and educational needs, ensuring timely, quality, and evidence-based nutrition care while providing shift leadership and support to Clinical Dietitian staff. Every day you will provide direct nutrition care, participate in outpatient programs and clinics, and actively assist in leading projects and process improvement activities. You will also mentor and guide the Clinical Dietitian team, ensuring adherence to departmental guidelines and high standards of care.

To be successful in this role, you will possess advanced expertise in clinical nutrition, strong leadership and mentoring skills, a commitment to evidence-based practice and quality improvement, and the ability to effectively guide a team while delivering exceptional patient care.

  • Provides leadership, support and coordination to Clinical Dietitian and support staff.
  • Responsible for orienting, training and mentoring staff and students.
  • Assists in directing, organizing and prioritizing all shift activities ensuring patient care and staff needs are met.
  • Performs comprehensive inpatient / client nutritional assessments and reassessments across the age spectrum per departmental screening and assessment guidelines.
  • Develops nutrition care plan, interventions and goals based on desired outcomes for patient/client, which include but not limited to: assessing calorie, protein, and micronutrient needs; evaluating appropriateness of enteral or parenteral nutrition; determining enteral or parenteral feeding regime and implementing per department and hospital policy.
  • Documents all patient care activities including evaluations, education, and progress notes per standards of practice and regulatory/third party payer requirements.

Job Requirements

Required

  • Bachelor's Degree with completion of accredited dietetics program (ACEND - Accreditation Council for Education in Nutrition Dietetics).
  • Two (2) years acute hospital experience working with patients in more complex levels of care to specialized populations (e.g. pediatric, bariatric, ICU, etc.) 

Preferred

  • Potential Board Certifications include: Board Certification Specialist in Oncology, Pediatric and Pediatric Critical Care, Renal, and Gerontological. Also Certified Nutrition Support Clinician (NBNSC) - ASPEN, Certified Diabetes Care and Education Specialist (NCBDE). Outpatient/Wellness Center/Rehabilitation - Board Certified Specialist in sports dietetics, obesity and weight management. In lieu of a board certification, three (3) years acute care hospital or similar experience working with patients in more complex levels of care to specialized populations.
