Please note: The salary range above represents this position’s earning potential. The anticipated hiring range for this position will be $57,099 to $86,317, based on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
WHO WE ARE
The Montgomery County Police Department (MCPD) is made up of approximately 1,300 sworn officers and approximately 650 support personnel. The Police Department was established in 1922 and today is responsible for providing service to a County with a population of over one million people.
WHO WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are looking for individuals that have Security experience within a public setting; that includes excellent customer service and report writing skills. Someone who has experience with security systems and protocols.
This is a security work maintaining the security of and protecting County-owned buildings, property, equipment, assisting employees and visitors and controlling access to county property by employees and the public. Personal contact is with employees, the public, and personnel from outside organizations for the purpose of exchanging security services and processes.
Employees in this position are responsible for:
· Performing security work, including patrolling, equipment monitoring, desk assignment and parking details.
· Providing public service and assistance to the visiting public.
· Providing answers to questions from visitors concerning government operations and giving directions to various facility locations.
Applicants must have the ability to:
- Pass a comprehensive background investigation conducted by the MCPD. (6 weeks)
- Pass a medical examination and a drug/alcohol screen.
- Perform work assignments at different work locations as required.
- Work holidays, weekends and work rotating shifts during days, evenings or midnights.
- Accept last-minute changes in their schedule and work mandatory overtime.
The individual selected for this position will be considered an "Essential Employee". Essential employees must report to work during periods of general emergency or liberal leave.
Due to the key job responsibilities, this position is not qualified to telework and is an in-person, on-site position only.
Experience: One (1) year of experience in security work in a public setting.
Education: Completion of high school or High School Certificate of completion recognized in the State of Maryland.
Equivalency: An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
License: Possess and maintenance at all times of a valid Class “C” (or equivalent) driver’s license from the applicant’s state of residence.
1. Demonstrated understanding of security protocols and emergency response procedures in public or social service environments.
2. Experience working in environments such as homeless shelters, crisis intervention centers, or facilities supporting at-risk individuals.
3. Experience providing customer service.
4. Experience using computer software applications and writing reports.
5. Experience utilizing security systems, to include CCTV/video, access control, and alarm notification software
