JOB SUMMARY:Within the context of a client and family centred care model, this position functions under the operational supervision of the Manager or Team Leader the practice supervision of the PT Practice Coordinator and the direction of a licensed designated physiotherapist to work as a member of the health care team. Provides assigned physical therapy therapeutic interventions; assists in modification of PT care plans in order to enable clients to maximize potential for independence. Provides functional direction to client and family, reports relevant observations of client's condition and progress in writing or by utilizing basic computer literacy, manages equipment safety and inventory.
QUALIFICATIONS:Education & Experience Completion of a recognized Diploma level Rehabilitation Assistant Program with Physical therapy components plus one (1) year's recent, related experience working with target population or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience. Valid BC Driver’s License and access to a vehicle. Local area travel requires the use of a personal vehicle for which mileage will be reimbursed. Knowledge & AbilitiesAbility to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing. Computer literacy skillsAbility to work collaboratively with others. Ability to operate related equipment. Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position. Ability to organize and prioritize work. Ability to observe and recognize changes in clients.Ability to analyze and solve problems.Ability to establish and maintain rapport with clients.Ability to motivate clients and to encourage progression through therapeutic goalsDemonstrated ability to provide self-care instruction and educationThe hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes.
