Turning Homeownership Dreams into Reality
Are you a detail-oriented professional with a knack for financial counseling? As our Mortgage Loan Originator, you are the primary guide for members navigating the path to a new home or leveraging their home's equity. You'll handle the entire journey-from the first interview and credit counseling to underwriting and the final closing signature. If you enjoy a role that combines technical processing with a high-touch, personal approach to member service, you'll find a perfect fit in our Mortgage Lending team.
About SIU Credit Union We are built on a simple idea: "People Helping People." We're working for you, our members, and our neighbors to keep our community's finances strong. We believe in building a supportive environment where we all work together to help Southern Illinois grow.

- Full-Cycle Processing: Manage applications from start to finish-verifying income, ordering appraisals and title commitments, and preparing final loan documents.
- Lending Authority: Approve or deny first mortgages and home equity loans within Board-designated limits, ensuring every decision is sound and well-documented.
- Closing & Disbursal: Facilitate professional loan closings and manage the disbursal of funds for both in-house and secondary market loans.
- Compliance Stewardship: Ensure 100% adherence to RESPA and HMDA requirements, including timely disclosures and mandatory legal mailings.
- Secondary Market Coordination: Package final loan files for secondary market partners and coordinate with external lenders to support institutional growth.
What You Bring
- The Heart: A dedication to providing high-level customer service and helping members navigate complex financial transitions with ease.
- The Experience: Experience with loan documents and familiarity with general ledgers is preferred.
- The Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- The Credentials: Must maintain an active NMLS registration.
- The Skills: Strong decision-making abilities, excellent written/verbal communication, and the judgment to recommend policy improvements based on industry trends.

- The Essentials: Must be bondable and detail oriented.
Why You'll Love It Here
- Community Impact: Help members achieve the milestone of homeownership.
