Description

We are seeking a Maintenance Planning Specialist to join our Operations & Maintenance team in Brisbane. Reporting to the Asset Management Lead this role is responsible for developing, optimising and governing maintenance plans and schedules across Vena Energy Australia’s portfolio of solar and battery energy storage assets.

The Maintenance Planning Specialist will act as the key link between asset strategy and operational execution, ensuring maintenance activities are proactive, risk-based, efficiently planned and aligned to long-term asset performance and cost outcomes. This role will work closely with Asset Management, Operations, Projects & Construction, site teams, contractors and OEMs to ensure maintenance plans are practical, executable and aligned with asset lifecycle strategies, operational constraints and performance objectives.

Key Responsibilities:

Maintenance Planning Strategy & Governance

  • Develop and maintain the maintenance planning framework across operating assets, aligned with lifecycle strategies and asset management objectives.

  • Ensure maintenance strategies align with asset lifecycle plans, performance targets, risk priorities and criticality assessments.

  • Support the development of preventive, predictive and condition-based maintenance approaches.

  • Establish consistent planning standards, templates and governance processes across the portfolio.

Lifecycle Alignment & Delivery

  • Translate lifecycle strategies and SAMP outputs into detailed maintenance plans and schedules.

  • Support lifecycle modelling by providing maintenance cost, frequency and execution insights.

  • Ensure maintenance plans reflect lifecycle interventions, degradation strategies and asset health priorities.

  • Contribute to improved long-term asset performance and value.

Maintenance Planning & Scheduling

  • Develop and coordinate annual, quarterly and rolling maintenance plans across Vena Energy Australia’s solar and battery energy storage assets.

  • Translate maintenance strategies into practical work plans, schedules and maintenance programs.

  • Prioritise maintenance activities based on risk, performance, efficiency, cost and operational requirements.

  • Ensure maintenance plans are practical, executable and aligned with site access, resourcing and outage windows.

Integration with Projects & Construction and Operations

  • Work closely with Projects & Construction and Operations teams to ensure maintenance plans are informed by commissioning, handover and operational readiness inputs.

  • Incorporate defect lists, warranty items, site constraints, access limitations and outage planning windows into maintenance plans.

  • Validate execution feasibility with Operations teams and site-based stakeholders.

  • Ensure maintenance plans are grounded in real operational conditions and minimise planning conflicts.

Performance & Maintenance Optimisation

  • Analyse maintenance and asset performance data to identify trends, inefficiencies and opportunities for improvement.

  • Improve maintenance effectiveness through task frequency optimisation, scope refinement and resource planning.

  • Lead maintenance optimisation initiatives that support asset reliability, availability and cost performance.

  • Contribute to improved maintenance efficiency across the operating portfolio.

MMS & Work Management Governance

  • Provide governance and oversight of maintenance management systems, including asset registers, work orders and maintenance tasks.

  • Ensure asset data, maintenance hierarchies, work orders and backlog information are accurate and visible.

  • Work with Operations teams and contractors to ensure completed work is accurately captured.

  • Embed feedback from maintenance execution into future planning cycles.

Outage Planning Support

  • Support the development of outage plans in collaboration with Operations and relevant site teams.

  • Coordinate maintenance priorities within planned outage windows.

  • Ensure maintenance activities are optimised for efficient outage execution.

  • Support maximum completion of planned works during outage periods.

Stakeholder & Contractor Interface

  • Interface with O&M contractors, OEMs and site teams to support clear maintenance planning and execution.

  • Ensure maintenance scope, timing, requirements and expectations are clearly defined.

  • Support contractor performance through clear planning, coordination and communication.

  • Reduce ambiguity in maintenance scope and execution requirements.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead ongoing improvement of maintenance planning processes, systems and tools.

  • Identify opportunities to improve planning quality, efficiency and consistency.

  • Support opportunities for automation, data-driven planning and digital maintenance tools.

  • Contribute to the continuous uplift of maintenance planning capability across the portfolio.

Prerequisites:

  • Trade, engineering or technical qualification.

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in maintenance planning, scheduling or operations within power generation or a similar industry.

  • Experience working with site-based operations teams.

  • Strong maintenance planning and scheduling capability.

  • Understanding of asset maintenance strategies, including preventive, condition-based and predictive maintenance.

  • Ability to interpret asset performance data and translate insights into practical maintenance plans.

  • Strong planning, organisational and coordination skills.

  • High attention to detail and strong problem-solving ability.

  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders and translate strategy into operational execution.
