Micron Semiconductor Technology India (MSTI) is seeking an experienced and strategic Safety Manager to lead the site's Industrial Safety and Occupational Health programs. This role will be responsible for developing, implementing, and continuously improving world-class safety management systems that support a safe, healthy, and compliant work environment.

The Director will partner closely with Facilities, Manufacturing, Engineering, Construction, Global EHS, and external regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with applicable legislation, Micron EHS standards, and industry best practices while fostering a strong safety-first culture across the organization.

Key Responsibilities

Safety Leadership & Strategy

• Lead and manage site Safety and Occupational Health programs.
• Champion a proactive safety culture through leadership engagement, coaching, and employee involvement.
• Establish annual safety goals, KPIs, and improvement plans aligned with site and corporate objectives.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives to achieve world-class EHS performance.

Regulatory Compliance

• Ensure compliance with all applicable Indian statutory requirements, including Factories Act, Gujarat Factory Rules, and other EHS regulations.
• Maintain compliance with Micron Corporate EHS requirements and industry standards.
• Interface with government agencies, regulatory authorities, auditors, and emergency responders.

Risk Management

• Lead EHS risk assessments for operations, projects, equipment installations, and contractor activities.
• Identify potential hazards and implement effective risk mitigation measures.
• Conduct regular inspections, audits, and compliance assessments.
• Track corrective and preventive actions to closure.

Incident Prevention & Investigation

• Lead incident, near-miss, and unsafe condition investigations.
• Perform root cause analysis and implement sustainable corrective actions.
• Monitor trends and develop preventive strategies to eliminate workplace injuries and illnesses.

Contractor & Construction Safety

• Oversee contractor safety management programs.
• Ensure contractors and vendors comply with site safety requirements.
• Partner with Facilities and Construction teams to review safety requirements during project planning, installation, commissioning, and operational phases.

Emergency Preparedness

• Develop and maintain emergency response plans and procedures.
• Coordinate drills for fire, chemical releases, medical emergencies, and other site-specific scenarios.
• Collaborate with internal emergency response teams and external agencies.

Safety Systems & Governance

• Manage EHS committees and governance forums.
• Support and maintain EHS management systems aligned with ISO requirements.
• Prepare management reports, dashboards, and safety performance reviews.

Training & Awareness

• Develop and deploy site-wide safety training programs.
• Conduct awareness campaigns and leadership engagement activities.
• Ensure all employees, contractors, and visitors receive appropriate safety orientation and training.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, or related discipline.
• Advanced qualification in Industrial Safety, Safety Engineering, or EH&S preferred.

Experience

• 20+ years of progressive EHS/Safety experience.
• Minimum 5 years in a leadership role within semiconductor, manufacturing, chemical, electronics, or high-tech industries.
• Experience supporting greenfield or large-scale manufacturing operations is highly desirable.

Certifications (Preferred)

• Diploma/Advanced Diploma in Industrial Safety.
• Certified Safety Professional (CSP), NEBOSH, or equivalent.
• Knowledge of Responsible Business Alliance (RBA) standards.
