At Roche you can show up as yourself, embraced for the unique qualities you bring. Our culture encourages personal expression, open dialogue, and genuine connections, where you are valued, accepted and respected for who you are, allowing you to thrive both personally and professionally. This is how we aim to prevent, stop and cure diseases and ensure everyone has access to healthcare today and for generations to come. Join Roche, where every voice matters.
The Position
Data Scientist
Roche Digital Technology (RDT) is where innovation meets purpose. As a global team at the heart of Roche, we are a community of business-minded technologists committed to help shape tomorrow’s digital future of healthcare. Our mission is to power Roche through cutting-edge digital technologies, harnessing the potential of artificial intelligence, data, and scalable tech innovations. Driven by purpose and passion, we’re building a future where digital is a core strength across all of Roche, enabling smarter ways of working, unlocking human potential, and driving breakthroughs that truly matter for millions of patients around the world.
At Roche, we offer a hybrid work model that combines flexibility with in-person collaboration. For now, we require our employees to be in our offices on average two days per week. The specific office days may vary depending on business needs, such as workshops, conferences, town halls, team meetings, and other collaborative events.
This role is based in Roche's AI Function, where we build scalable platforms, tools, and GenAI capabilities to turn enterprise ideas into real-world healthcare products fast. Operating with an ambitious, high-ownership team culture, you will work on the ground floor of emerging agentic AI systems that reason, plan, and execute complex workflows under human oversight. Joining us gives you a rare opportunity to directly shape how next-generation AI is built, evaluated, and governed at enterprise scale to impact millions of patients globally.
The Opportunity
Design, build, and deploy production-ready AI/ML solutions and agentic workflows, taking models from initial prototype to robust, monitored enterprise capabilities.
Turn complex, ambiguous business problems into practical modeling approaches, selecting the optimal tool (classical ML, fine-tuned models, RAG, or agentic architectures) rather than relying on standard LLMs by default.
Establish rigorous evaluation frameworks, golden datasets, and testing harnesses to offline- and online-evaluate GenAI/LLM outputs for safety, reliability, hallucination drift, and performance.
Build MLOps/LLMOps pipelines for continuous integration, deployment, and real-time observability, while managing infrastructure costs, token usage, and vendor API integrations.
Embed Roche’s AI governance, security, and compliance guardrails directly into development pipelines, ensuring fairness, privacy, and explainability from day one.
Partner closely with product owners, cross-functional engineers, and business leaders to translate technical trade-offs and surface data-driven insights on AI adoption, impact, and value.
Who You Are
Technical Expertise in AI & Software Engineering: Strong hands-on proficiency in Python, LLMs, RAG pipelines, vector databases/embeddings, and core NLP/statistical modeling with clean, reproducible code (Required).
GenAI Evaluation & LLMOps: Proven ability to build evaluation harnesses for GenAI, perform model fine-tuning, and implement LLMOps/MLOps pipelines with full observability (tracing, latency, hallucination monitoring) (Required).
Strategic Range & Communication: Demonstrated skill in bridging technical implementation with non-technical stakeholders, explaining complex AI trade-offs, and managing infrastructure/cost optimization (Required).
Cloud & MLOps Infrastructure: Hands-on experience deploying scalable enterprise AI solutions on AWS or Azure platforms (Preferred).
Regulated Domain & AI Governance: Experience with AI governance, model risk management, fairness/bias mitigation, or working within healthcare, pharma (GxP), or financial environments (Preferred).
What You Get
Salary Range: 170’100.00 - 243’000.00 - 315’900.00 PLN Annual based on an employment contract (Umowa o Pracę).
Annual Performance Bonus: Target bonus of 15% based on performance.
Dedicated Training Budget: Funding for certifications, AI/tech courses, global conferences, and diversified career paths.
