About the Project
ACCIONA Agua is seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to provide technical leadership and drive engineering excellence by implementing engineering processes across major water infrastructure projects in Australia.

About the Opportunity
Reporting to the Project Director or Head of Engineering Australia, the Engineering Manager will lead the engineering function throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring engineering solutions are safe, innovative, commercially sound, and aligned with project objectives.
You will provide technical leadership across design management, engineering governance, constructability, and project delivery, working closely with project teams, clients, consultants, contractors, and key stakeholders to achieve successful project outcomes.
This role offers the opportunity to lead high-performing engineering teams, solve complex technical challenges, and contribute to the delivery of some of Australia’s most significant infrastructure projects.
This position is based in Melbourne.
What are the key accountabilities for the position?
- Lead and develop multidisciplinary engineering teams to achieve project objectives and deliver high-quality engineering outcomes.
- Provide technical leadership, engineering governance, and oversight across design development, construction, commissioning, and project handover.
- Manage engineering deliverables, design reviews, technical assurance processes, and constructability assessments.
- Develop and implement engineering strategies that support safe, efficient, and successful project delivery.
- Identify and manage technical risks and opportunities throughout the project lifecycle.
- Drive innovative engineering solutions that improve safety, quality, cost, schedule, and sustainability outcomes.
- Collaborate with construction, commercial, procurement, commissioning, and project controls teams to ensure effective project delivery.
- Build strong relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders.
- Champion digital engineering, continuous improvement, and best practice engineering processes.
- Mentor and develop engineering professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, accountability, and technical excellence.
Required Skills and Competencies
- A degree qualification in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, Process Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Significant experience in engineering leadership roles within water, major infrastructure, utilities, construction, or related industries.
- Demonstrated experience managing engineering teams and delivering complex projects.
- Strong knowledge of design management, engineering governance, construction methodologies, and project delivery.
- Proven ability to manage technical risks, solve complex problems, and deliver practical engineering solutions.
- Strong commercial awareness and the ability to balance technical requirements with project objectives.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and leadership skills
- Experience delivering major water projects will be highly regarded.
