Summary
The Senior Planner will lead planning and scheduling activities across mining and EPCM construction projects, from engineering through construction and commissioning. The ideal candidate has a proven track record building and maintaining integrated project schedules, ensuring alignment with cost, scope, and quality standards. This role requires strong analytical skills, technical expertise in Primavera P6, and the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional project teams to support sound, timely decision-making.
Responsibilities
The Senior Planner will be responsible for the following functions:
Schedule Development & Baselines:
- Develop and maintain the project's Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and detailed schedules in Primavera P6, covering engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Establish schedule baselines and manage the change control process for schedule revisions.
- Build resource- and cost-loaded schedules in coordination with Cost Control and discipline leads.
Schedule Analysis & Forecasting:
- Perform critical path analysis, look-ahead scheduling, and scenario / what-if planning to identify risks and flexibility in the plan.
- Monitor progress and forecast completion dates, flagging variances and potential delays early.
- Support delay analysis and schedule impact assessments for change orders and claims.
Cost & Schedule Integration:
- Integrate schedule and cost data using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles.
- Coordinate with Cost Control to align progress measurement, forecasting, and reporting.
Communication & Reporting:
- Prepare progress reports, S-curves, dashboards, and schedule narratives for project leadership and clients.
- Present schedule status and risks at project review meetings and planning workshops.
- Maintain formal documentation of schedule baselines, revisions, and approvals.
Team Leadership & Coordination:
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior planners/schedulers; review their work for quality and consistency.
- Coordinate with Field Engineering, Procurement, Permitting, and Site Operations to ensure schedules reflect real site conditions and constraints.
