Description

The Allegro team is united by a clear purpose—advancing technologies that make the world safer, more efficient, and more sustainable. With over 30 years of experience in semiconductor innovation, we bring that purpose to life across every part of the business—from breakthrough product development and customer success to how we show up for each other and the communities we serve.

About the Opportunity

Allegro MicroSystems is a global leader in power and sensing semiconductor solutions that drive a safer, more sustainable, and autonomous future. Our High-Voltage Power (HVP) business unit is at the forefront of the industry's transition to next-generation energy systems, developing advanced isolated gate drivers, Solid-State Transformer (SST) controllers, and power conversion ICs that enable 800VDC AI Data Centers and Electric Vehicles (EV).

As the Manager, Test Engineering in Milan, you will lead a high-performing team of Test Development engineers and Product Validation Engineers. You will sit at the heart of our product release cycle, owning the test strategy, execution, and silicon validation from initial design stages to high-volume production release. Reporting directly to the Senior Director of Engineering, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality, reliability, and manufacturability of our high-voltage semiconductor portfolio.

What You Will Do

  • Team Leadership & Mentoring: Lead, mentor, and grow a team of talented Test Development and Product Engineers. Foster a culture of technical excellence, continuous learning, and collaborative execution.

  • Test Strategy & Execution: Define, develop, and implement comprehensive test strategies (wafer probe and final packaged test) for complex high-voltage analog and mixed-signal integrated circuits (ICs).

  • ATE Hardware & Software Development: Oversee the design and development of high-performance Automated Test Equipment (ATE) load boards, probe cards, and test programs (primarily utilizing industry-standard platforms like Teradyne ETS/Eagle 364 or similar mixed-signal testers).

  • Design-for-Test (DFT) Collaboration: Collaborate closely with IC Design Leads and Systems Engineering to define and validate DFT methodologies (including digital scan, Iddq, SHOVE, and GateStress) early in the product lifecycle to maximize test coverage and minimize test time.

  • Product Characterization & Release: Drive the Silicon Review process, executing full electrical characterization across temperature extremes and process corners. Ensure timely transition from Pre-Production Release (PPR) to full Release to Production (RTP) in compliance with automotive (AEC-Q100, ISO 26262) and industrial quality standards.

  • Operations & Yield Optimization: Partner with global manufacturing teams (including our AMPI facility in the Philippines) and foundry partners to monitor production yields, drive yield enhancement initiatives (DYE), and resolve test-related issues in high-volume production.

What You Will Bring

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronic Engineering, or a closely related discipline.

  • Professional Experience:

    • Minimum of 8 years of experience in semiconductor Test Engineering, with a strong background in analog, mixed-signal, or high-voltage power IC testing.

    • Prior experience in a lead, principal, or supervisory role is required, with a proven track record of managing engineering projects or teams.

  • Technical Expertise:

    • Deep expertise in ATE test program development, debugging, and hardware design (schematics, PCB layout for test boards).

    • Solid understanding of high-voltage testing challenges, including isolation barriers, partial discharge, and transient measurements.

    • Familiarity with automotive qualification standards (AEC-Q100, ISO 26262/ASIL) and product quality tools (DFMEA/PFMEA, APQP).

    • Familiarity with scripting languages (e.g., Python, C/C++) for data analysis and test automation.

  • Soft Skills:

    • Strategic Communicator: Ability to present complex technical issues and test metrics clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, executive leadership, and global customers.

    • Collaborative Builder: Proven ability to work across geographies (Europe, US, Asia) and functional boundaries (Design, Marketing, Quality, Operations).

    • Problem Solver: Analytical mindset with a passion for finding root causes of complex silicon or test setup anomalies.
