Job Summary and Responsibilities
As our Phlebotomist, you will primarily be responsible for the accurate collection and processing of blood samples and other specimens as defined by the site. Every day, you will provide a high level of customer service, addressing lab inquiries, clarifying test requirements, and providing other essential laboratory information. Your meticulous sample collection and professional patient interactions will be crucial to efficient lab operations and quality patient care. To be successful, you will demonstrate exceptional technical skill in phlebotomy, a strong commitment to accuracy and patient comfort, and excellent interpersonal skills for effective customer service.
- Performs venous, capillary, urine drug screen, swab collection, or other specimen collection as defined by site.
- Ensures quality collection of specimens, including appropriate sample container, sample volume, collection priority, and sample identification.
- Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification and appropriate specimen type.
- Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to appropriate testing area.
- Prepares samples for offsite testing to include assessing appropriate sample type, container, and temperature.
- Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results.
Job Requirements
Required
- High School Diploma or GED
- BLS-CPR within 90 days
- Excellent customer service and time management skills
Preferred
Phlebotomy certificate
3 months phlebotomy in an acute care facility
