The Production Mail Team Lead supports planning and organizing work assignments for mail/specialty team employees. Coordinate mail/specialty fulfillment, monitoring for bottlenecks, labor balancing and technical issues. Assure employees adhere to safety guidelines and SOPs. Communicate consistently regarding operational success and issues with managers and employees. Facilitate daily Mail/Specialty Team operations as well as being the point of contact for the customer’s mail concerns and issues. This role serves as a key operational point of contact for mail support, specialty managed care, customer issue resolution, inventory coordination, and carrier-related research while providing peer coaching and hands-on production support as needed.
What You’ll Do (Responsibilities)
- Maintain daily production workflow for mail, home delivery, and specialty operations in alignment with established goals.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for the Wegmans Mail Support Center, Specialty Managed Care Team, and customer issues related to mail, home delivery, and specialty operations.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate daily team assignments to ensure mail, home delivery, and specialty work is completed accurately and on time.
- Support compliance with policies, SOPs, site security requirements, safety guidelines, and standard operating procedures; assist with developing new SOPs as needed.
- Communicate operational updates, concerns, successes, and issues with peers, supervisors, managers, and employees while helping resolve barriers.
- Lead smaller work teams, provide peer training and mentoring, identify training opportunities, and share confidential performance feedback with supervisors as appropriate.
- Partner with mail, inventory, logistics, and pharmacy operations teams to support product availability, supply needs, backorder tracking, item research, and mail-related concerns.
- Support logistics and production needs as backup to the Logistics Lead, including SAP item loads, item creation, PO placement, McKesson Connect research, item slotting, pack-size adjustments, and other assigned duties.
Basic Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum education and typical experience, or equivalent combination,
- Experience in central fill, pharmacy operations, mail order, home delivery, specialty pharmacy, logistics, warehouse operations, distribution, or a closely related operational environment.
- Working knowledge of mail operations, logistics processes, production workflow, SOPs, safety requirements, and customer support procedures.
- Ability to use a computer and business systems to research items, review reports, document issues, and communicate updates.
- Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
Preferred Skills/Experience
- Prior team lead, peer trainer, coordinator, or informal leadership experience in a production, pharmacy, fulfillment, distribution, or logistics environment.
- Experience with SAP, McKesson Connect, GlobalShip, FedEx, UPS, UPSMI, USPS, Convergence, or other carrier/logistics systems.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Outlook, and reporting tools.
- Ability to analyze operational issues, identify root causes, recommend solutions, and support continuous improvement.
- Strong attention to detail, customer service mindset, positive attitude, and ability to support high-volume work in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience creating, updating, or training others on standard operating procedures.
Description of Travel or In-Office and Physical Requirements
This role is primarily onsite and supports both office and production areas in a temperature-controlled facility. The position may require standing or walking for the majority of the work shift and supporting order-filling or production activities during urgent business needs. Travel is not expected unless required by business needs.
