Description
As our Portfolio Development Manager, you play a critical role in the regional strategic solutions development and delivery.
You will focus on regional and subregional commercial opportunity development from concept to commercial delivery.
Supporting our regional commercial team in expanding our solutions offering, knowledge development and delivering sustainable commercial success. The role will be also focus on knowledge transfer to both the regional commercial and technical teams, with close collaboration and alignment with the regional leadership.
About You
This is a bespoke role in that it doesn’t follow the traditional format of Product Management, to support this role and its additional expectation the broader Portfolio team will support the team member in a number of task.
You will report to the Portfolio Director, Solutions & Blends based in London.

What You’ll Be Doing
The Portfolio Development Management responsibilities are split into the following categories:
Portfolio Go-To-Market Development
- Alignment with regional Commercial and Finance teams on Commercial strategies and priorities within both the Annual Operating Plan and 5years Regional Strategy
- Development of Regional and Sub-regional Go-To-Market solutions portfolios, utilizing commercialized blends and blend concepts
- Alignment with Marketing & Insights on the development of product manuals, seller sheets and supporting documents needed for a successful delivery of the respective solutions portfolios
Knowledge Transfer
- Coaching and mentoring of Commercial leaders and team members on the development and delivery of the Blends business.
- Coaching and mentoring of technical leaders and Application specialist on regional nuances as it relates to the development & formulation of Blends.
Pipeline Development and Delivery
- Regular Reviews of Regional and sub-regional Development pipeline.
- Account Management
- Project Management
- Stakeholder management
Product Management
- Commercialization initiation of new Commercial Recipes
- Support within Management of change in matters of Commercial Ingredients management, Regulatory Compliance management, Quality Assurance and Control management.
- Portfolio Pricelist management in setting new Floor & Target pricing, coupled with update and adjustment of product sampling and pricing within “One SFDC”
- Supporting Regional Quality teams, Technical Quality in customer management events
- Regional Commercial Contract Approvals
Regional Stakeholder Management
- Regional leadership & Technical Service team, monthly alignment meetings on project development, platform status and growth opportunities and limitations
- Regional Marketing & Business Development leadership, strong collaboration and alignment on priorities, strategies, timelines and go-to-market portfolio
- Regional Operations, alignment with production plant and regional supply chain on new volume demand, timings and demand impact on functional ingredients.
Location
This role is assigned to be based in either Shanghai, China or Singapore.
What You’ll have
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field
- Ideally 10 + years of product management or related commercial experience in specialty ingredients in Food, Beverage & Nutrition Industry. Strong business acumen.
- This role requires advanced ‘Portfolio & Technical Application Expertise’. Acting as a trusted advisor to commercial teams and customers, this role leverages understanding of ingredient solution applications and market trends to proactively identify growth opportunities and influence senior stakeholders.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills
- Strong technical product and food applications knowledge
- Must be agile and flexible and be guided by Tate & Lyle’s core principles of being purpose-led, science-driven and customer-obsessed.
- Excellent interpersonal, customer service/customer focused skills
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to function well in a highly matrixed organization
