Role Overview:
We are seeking an experienced Operational Performance Assurance Lead to support the Head of Operational Performance in providing strategic assurance across operational performance, business rules, work-based instructions and contractual deliverables.
This is a leadership role responsible for establishing and maintaining a robust performance assurance framework, providing confidence to senior leadership that operational delivery, contractual commitments and reporting obligations are being effectively managed and evidenced.
A strong understanding of data, analytics and KPI reporting will be essential. You will use data to identify trends, test performance, challenge assumptions and provide clear insight to support decision-making at senior levels.
Key Responsibilities:

- Provide assurance that business rules and work-based instructions are clearly defined, understood and consistently applied.
- Review operational processes and controls to identify gaps, risks, inconsistencies and opportunities for improvement.
- Provide assurance over contractual deliverables, ensuring performance requirements are understood, measurable and supported by appropriate evidence.
- Develop and maintain effective KPI and performance reporting, ensuring measures are accurate, meaningful and aligned to strategic and contractual requirements.
- Analyse operational data to identify trends, exceptions, emerging risks and areas requiring management attention.
- Challenge performance information where appropriate, testing the quality, completeness and integrity of underlying data.
- Translate complex data and analytical findings into clear, concise insight for senior stakeholders.
- Work collaboratively with operational teams to understand the causes behind performance results and ensure appropriate actions are identified.
- Support the development of performance dashboards, management information and assurance reports.
- Identify opportunities to improve data quality, reporting processes, business rules and performance measurement.
- Provide evidence-based recommendations to support strategic decision-making and continuous improvement.
- Maintain a strong understanding of contractual and operational requirements and ensure these are reflected in performance measures and assurance activity.
What does Leidos need from me?
- Experience working in operational performance, business assurance, contract performance, governance or a similar environment
- Strong experience of data analysis and KPI reporting, with the ability to interrogate data and identify meaningful insights
- Experience developing, managing or challenging performance measures and management information
- A strong understanding of how business rules, processes, work instructions and contractual requirements translate into measurable operational outcomes
- The confidence to challenge established practices and ask the right questions when performance or compliance does not provide sufficient assurance
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
- The ability to interpret complex information and communicate it clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience working with data visualisation and reporting tools such as Power BI, Excel or equivalent
- The ability to build effective relationships across operational, commercial and senior leadership teams
