Commissioning Engineer (Medium-Voltage Systems)

This position reports to: Engineering Manager

Your Role and Responsibilities

To strengthen our Engineering team in the field of protection technology, we are looking for an experienced Commissioning Engineer for Medium Voltage Switchgear.

You will apply your technical skills across various phases of customer projects, ensuring that all commissioning activities are completed efficiently and cost-effectively in accordance with contract specifications, quality standards, safety requirements, as well as cybersecurity guidelines and standards. You will also demonstrate your expertise by supporting the continuous improvement of project processes, product, and system design.

Work Model: hybrid 

You will be primarily responsible for:

• Independent commissioning of medium voltage switchgear as well as protection and control systems, taking into account customer requirements, technical specifications, and applicable quality, safety, and regulatory standards.

• Parameterization and configuration of ABB protection relays and RTUs, as well as execution and documentation of functional, protection, and secondary tests.

• Analysis and diagnosis of technical faults in protection and automation systems, support in second-level support, and participation in on-call duty (piquet service).

• Supporting sales and project management in technical reviews and in technical discussions with customers and partners; conducting customer training on the operation of protection relays.

Qualifications for the Role

• Technical foundation education and a completed degree in Engineering, Automation Technology, or a related technical field.

• Minimum 3 years of professional experience in commissioning or engineering of systems in the field of energy and protection technology.

• Solid knowledge of software programming using FUPLA as well as communication protocols such as IEC 61850, Modbus, and IEC 60870-5-104.

• Strong focus on safe working practices and commitment to compliance with all relevant safety guidelines.

• Independent, structured, and responsible working style, high self-motivation, openness to new topics, and willingness to continuously acquire new technologies.

• Very good German and good English language skills. French is an advantage.

• High willingness to travel (approx. 60–70%) within Switzerland, as well as willingness to take on on-call duties (approx. 7 times per year).

Zur Verstärkung unseres Engineering-Teams im Bereich Schutztechnik suchen wir einen erfahrenen Inbetriebsetzungs-Ingenieur für Mittelspannungsanlagen.

Sie setzen Ihre technischen Fähigkeiten in verschiedenen Phasen von Kundenprojekten ein und stellen sicher, dass alle Inbetriebsetzungen effizient und kostengünstig gemäss Vertragsspezifikationen, Qualitätsstandards, Sicherheitsanforderungen sowie Cybersicherheitsrichtlinien und -standards abgeschlossen werden. Sie zeigen ausserdem Ihre Expertise, indem Sie kontinuierliche Verbesserung des Projektprozess-, Produkt- und Systemdesigns unterstützen.

Arbeitsmodell: hybrid  

Sie sind hauptsächlich verantwortlich für:

• Eigenverantwortliche Inbetriebsetzung von Mittelspannungs-Schaltanlagen sowie Schutz- und Leittechniksystemen unter Berücksichtigung von Kundenanforderungen, technischen Spezifikationen sowie geltenden Qualitäts-, Sicherheits- und Normvorgaben.

• Parametrierung und Konfiguration von ABB-Schutzrelais und RTUs sowie Durchführung und Dokumentation von Funktions-, Schutz- und Sekundärprüfungen.

• Analyse und Diagnose technischer Störungen an Schutz- und Automatisierungssystemen, Unterstützung im Second-Level-Support sowie Teilnahme am Pikettdienst.

• Unterstützung von Verkauf und Projektleitung bei technischen Reviews sowie bei fachlichen Diskussionen mit Kunden und Partnern; Durchführung von Kundenschulungen zur Bedienung der Schutzrelais

Qualifikationen für die Rolle

• Technische Grundausbildung sowie ein abgeschlossenes Studium in Ingenieurwesen, Automatisierungstechnik oder einem verwandten technischen Fachgebiet

• Mindestens 3 Jahre Berufserfahrung in der Inbetriebsetzung von Anlagen im Bereich Energie- und Schutztechnik

• Fundierte Kenntnisse in der Softwareprogrammierung mittels FUPLA sowie in Kommunikationsprotokollen wie IEC 61850, Modbus und IEC 60870-5-104

• Starker Fokus auf sicheres Arbeiten und Engagement für die Einhaltung aller relevanten Sicherheitsrichtlinien

• Selbstständiges, strukturiertes und verantwortungsbewusstes Arbeiten, hohe Eigenmotivation, Aufgeschlossenheit gegenüber neuen Themen sowie die Bereitschaft, sich kontinuierlich neue Technologien anzueignen

• Sehr gute Deutsch- und gute Englischkenntnisse. Französisch von Vorteil

• Hohe Reisebereitschaft (ca. 60-70 %) innerhalb der Schweiz sowie Bereitschaft zur Übernahme von Pikettdiensten (ca. 7-mal jährlich)
