This Job Description establishes and describes the basic function, requirements, reporting relationships, tasks and duties and measures of performance for the functional position of Parts Runner for Willards Garage.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Perform quality pick-up and delivery of parts and customers in a timely manner on all customer vehicles needing repair work for the company. Maintain a clean shop & office.
REQUIREMENTS:
EDUCATION:
- Minimum – High School diploma or equivalency.
- Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
EXPERIENCE:
1 year of automotive service experience or related industry is helpful but not mandatory.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE, AND ABILITIES:
- Basic mechanical skills and knowledge are a plus such as tire repair, battery troubleshooting, etc.
- Basic math knowledge.
- Computer and data-entry skills are a plus.
- Organizational and record-keeping skills.
- Ability to stand, walk, sit, and lift 50 pounds.
- Have a teamwork mindset in the workplace and accept feedback on your work.
- Must be able to manage time efficiently.
- Ability to multitask, work in automotive repair settings.
REPORTING RELATIONSHIPS:
The Parts Runner reports to the Shop Foreman & Service Manager.
TASKS AND DUTIES:
- Provide excellent customer service to customers.
- Communicate with parts sellers and technicians to make sure everything needed is on hand.
- Deliver parts to technicians on a daily basis.
- Pick up and Deliver parts to the company.
- Perform general shop & office clean-up for the company.
- Schedule customer pick-ups and drop offs for customer repair vehicles.
- Adhere to all Willards Garage policies and procedures.
- Perform other duties as deemed necessary and communicated to you by management.
MEASURES OF PERFORMANCE:
- The Parts Runner will be deemed to be performing in a satisfactory manner when the following are met:
- Maintain a good attendance and punctuality record.
- Participate in additional training as provided by the employer.
- Comply with all company policies and procedures pertaining to personal behavior.
- Cooperates with others, develops, and practices teamwork.
