Amentum is seeking a Packaging Specialist to support a unique US Navy program on the island of Diego Garcia.

Job Responsibilities:

• Perform packaging, wrapping, labeling, and preparation of materials, equipment, and supplies for storage, shipment, or transport in accordance with Navy and program standards.
• Inspect items for damage, accuracy, and compliance prior to packaging.
• Utilize appropriate packing materials, cushioning, containers, and protective methods to ensure safe handling and movement of goods.
• Prepare documentation, inventory logs, and basic shipping or storage records as required.
• Assist with loading, unloading, staging, and movement of packaged materials.
• Operate basic material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, dollies, and carts.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, and readiness of packaging areas, tools, and supplies.
• Follow instructions from supervisors to complete packaging tasks safely, efficiently, and to required quality standards.
• Ensure all packaging activities comply with environmental, safety, and regulatory requirements.
• Communicate progress, issues, and safety concerns to supervisors and leadership as required.
• Required to comply with all occupational safety and health standards, rules, and orders applicable to their actions and conduct. The role demands consistent, proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE), proactive reporting of workplace hazards, and total adherence to safety protocols to maintain a zero-injury environment.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned that are consistent with the nature and level of the position.

Required Qualifications:

• 1-3 years of experience in packaging, warehousing, logistics, material handling, or related industrial environments.
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Must possess a valid passport and be able to travel internationally.
• Passport must be valid for at least one year beyond hire date.
• Ability to obtain country-specific visas per the U.S. Department of State Foreign Clearance Guide.
• Ability to meet and maintain contract medical requirements for the duration of assignment.
• Ability to obtain and maintain facility credentials/authorization.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Previous experience supporting military logistics, warehousing, or supply operations.
• Familiarity with Navy or DoD packaging standards, material handling procedures, or inventory systems.
• Strong work ethic, attention to detail, and ability to follow technical and administrative instructions.
• Experience working in remote, industrial, or warehouse environments.
• Valid driver’s license and passport.

Working Environment

This position is located on Diego Garcia, British Indian Ocean Territory (BIOT), a remote overseas location supporting U.S. Government operations. Employees may work in office, industrial, warehouse, port, airfield, and outdoor environments and may be exposed to high temperatures, humidity, inclement weather, noise, dust, and uneven terrain. Work schedules may include evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on operational requirements.

Physical Requirements

Requirements may include prolonged sitting, standing, walking, climbing stairs, lifting up to 25 pounds regularly and 50 pounds occasionally, and working in both indoor and outdoor environments. Must be able to meet all medical, security, and deployment requirements associated with assignment to a remote overseas location.
