Job Description:
Microchip Technology Inc. has an Engineer II-Applications opening in the Secure Computing Group (SCG) in our Austin, TX office. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, enhance, test, and support embedded firmware solutions for Secure Computing products, with a strong focus on Embedded Controller (EC) applications for x86 and Arm-based PC platforms. You will work closely with engineering, validation, marketing, and customer teams to support product deployment, customer onboarding, hardware and system-level integration, troubleshooting, and technical enablement activities. The position also involves delivering technical demonstrations, resolving customer issues through Salesforce, developing application notes and technical collateral, and supporting customers throughout the product adoption lifecycle while working with geographically distributed teams.
Responsibilities:
Work closely with engineering, validation, marketing, and customer teams to support product deployment, customer onboarding, hardware and system-level integration, troubleshooting, and technical enablement activities
The position also involves delivering technical demonstrations, resolving customer issues through Salesforce, developing application notes and technical collateral, and supporting customers throughout the product adoption lifecycle while working with geographically distributed teams
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop, enhance, test, and support embedded firmware solutions for Secure Computing products, with a strong focus on Embedded Controller (EC) applications for x86 and Arm-based PC platforms
Requirements/Qualifications:
Bachelor’s / Master’s degree in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field with 2.5+ years of relevant industry experience
Experience in firmware development, testing, deployment, verification, and validation of embedded systems, microprocessors, and microcontrollers
Strong programming skills in Embedded C and experience with Python scripting
Knowledge of ARM architecture, Linux environments, and command-line build tools
Experience with embedded debugging tools such as oscilloscopes, debuggers, and protocol analyzers
Knowledge of communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, and similar embedded interfaces
Experience with cross-platform development and debugging environments
Good understanding of both software and hardware electronic concepts
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and debugging skills
Self-motivated individual contributor with the ability to work proactively in a collaborative environment
Strong teamwork, organization, multitasking, communication, and active listening skills
Technical writing and editing experience with the ability to create clear engineering documentation
Excellent written, proof-reading, and verbal English communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience with Chromium EC firmware and/or Zephyr RTOS
Hands-on experience with FreeRTOS or Zephyr RTOS
Knowledge of basic cryptography and security algorithms
Experience with Azure and IoT platforms
Knowledge of MPLAB, Keil IDE, and related toolchains
