Job Summary:
The Senior Director, Complex Risk Solutions is a strategic leadership role responsible for the development, execution, and oversight of all complex risk support functions across the organization. This leader will direct a multidisciplinary team responsible for sales and renewal support, market intelligence, client strategy, data analytics and reporting, claims advocacy, carrier partnerships, and vendor management.
Serving as a key partner to executive leadership, producers, and account management teams, the Senior Director will drive service excellence, operational efficiency, market competitiveness, and client retention strategies. The role requires a deep understanding of complex commercial insurance programs, carrier and vendor negotiations, analytics driven decision making, and large-scale team leadership.
This position oversees a team of more than 20 professionals, including Account Executives, Analytics and Reporting Specialists, Claims Advocates, and Carrier and Vendor Relationship Managers.
Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the strategic vision for the Complex Risk Solutions division.
- Align departmental initiatives with organizational growth, retention, and profitability goals.
- Partner with executive leadership to identify opportunities for innovation, operational improvement, and market differentiation.
- Lead change management initiatives and organizational transformation efforts.
Sales & Renewal Support
- Oversee all complex account marketing and renewal strategies.
- Ensure teams provide comprehensive market evaluations and placement recommendations.
- Support producers and client executives in new business pursuits and large account retention efforts.
- Develop consistent renewal and marketing standards across the organization.
Market Analysis & Client Strategy
- Lead the development of sophisticated risk financing and placement strategies.
- Provide strategic consultation on complex commercial insurance programs.
- Monitor market conditions, carrier appetite, and emerging industry trends.
- Guide teams in developing client-specific coverage, pricing, and risk management recommendations.
Data Analytics & Reporting
- Direct the organization's reporting and analytics resources.
- Establish data-driven insights supporting client strategy, risk management, and renewal negotiations.
- Oversee the development of dashboards, benchmarking reports, loss analysis, and executive reporting.
- Utilize analytics to improve client outcomes and strengthen carrier negotiations.
Claims Management
- Provide leadership and oversight for claims advocacy and escalation processes.
- Ensure effective claims resolution strategies for complex client accounts. Monitor claims trends and identify opportunities for loss mitigation and program improvements.
- Partner with clients, brokers, carriers, and claims professionals to achieve favorable outcomes.
Carrier & Vendor Management
- Own strategic relationships with carrier partners and key vendors.
- Negotiate carrier agreements, performance expectations, compensation structures, and service commitments.
- Lead vendor selection, contract negotiations, and ongoing performance management.
- Evaluate partnership effectiveness and drive continuous improvement initiatives.
Talent Leadership
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of Account Executives, Claims Specialists, Data Analysts, and Relationship Managers.
- Establish performance expectations, succession planning strategies, and professional development initiatives.
- Foster collaboration across departments and geographic locations.
- Build scalable organizational structures to support future growth.
Requirements:
- Significant experience managing large teams and multiple functional areas.
- Demonstrated success leading carrier negotiations and strategic partnerships.
- Strong understanding of complex commercial insurance programs and risk financing solutions.
- Experience building and maintaining stop loss reporting including claims filing, billing, large claim monitoring and required carrier reports and notifications
- Experience leveraging analytics and reporting to drive business decisions and client outcomes.
- Proven ability to influence executive stakeholders and lead cross-functional initiatives.
Education and Experience:
- 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in commercial insurance, risk management, brokerage operations, or related fields.
- Bachelor's degree required.
- Advanced degree, CPCU, ARM, CIC, CRM, or other industry designations preferred.
Pay Details:
The base compensation range for this position is $200,000 - $230,000. This range reflects Acrisure's good faith estimate at the time of this posting. Placement within the range will be based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to skills, experience, qualifications, location, and internal equity.Candidates should be comfortable with an on-site presence to support collaboration, team leadership, and cross-functional partnership.
