Aquatics Lead

The Aquatics Lead will monitor, evaluate, and lead the operations of assigned aquatics program and facility areas in the Rookery Activity Center. Under direction of the Aquatic Supervisor this position will be responsible for implementing aquatics programs, onsite supervision of aquatics facilities, onsite program evaluation, and perform aquatics safety and maintenance activities. Aquatic Leads will receive a free membership to the Rookery Activity Center.
 
RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Provide daily direction to the aquatics team.
2. Directly implements aquatics programming as necessary.
3. Ensures high level of customer service including safety.
4. Assists in training all aquatics team members including lifeguards, swim instructors, and recreation attendants.

 
QUALIFICATIONS

1. Excellent verbal communication and customer service skills.
2. Consistent professional appearance and pleasant demeanor.
3. Good time management and organizational skills.
4. Knowledge of pool equipment and safety measures.
5. Physically fit, good swimming abilities, and able to perform physical labor in warm humid environment.
6. Ability to move and lift heavy furniture and equipment.
7. Other duties as assigned.

 
REQUIREMENTS

1. 18 years and older.
2. Previous Leadership or Supervisory Experience
3. Proficient computer skills.
4. Good organizational skills.
5. Ability to respond quickly, effectively, and calmly in emergency situations.
6. Previous Lifeguard or Swim Instructor experience preferred.
7. High School Diploma/GED preferred.
8. Willingness to become Lifeguard, Swim Instructor, or Aqua Fitness Instructor certified within 60 days of hire.

 
PHYSICAL DEMANDS

1. Requires the physical ability and stamina to perform the essential functions of the position.
2. Ability to stand, sit, bend, and kneel for extended periods of time. 
3. Ability to carry and/or move up to 50 pounds.

 
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Must comply with organizational and departmental policies.
 
EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK
This is a part-time position. Hours will vary based on the Rookery Activity Center hours. Must be willing to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and after hours.
