Overview
Position Summary:
The Field Service Technician II position involves a higher level of responsibility in performing and assisting with major component exchanges for wind turbines. You will work more independently than a Technician I, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining wind turbine systems. This role requires a solid understanding of wind turbine operations and mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems, as well as a proactive approach to safety.Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
- Lead and assist in major component exchanges including gearboxes, generators, and nacelle components.
- Conduct troubleshooting and diagnostics on turbine systems.
- Perform detailed inspections and preventative maintenance on wind turbines.
- Lead small teams or mentor Field Service Technician Is on jobsites.
- Ensure all service work is completed on time, within scope, and to the highest standards of safety.
- Maintain accurate and detailed service records, including part usage and job performance.
- Participate in regular safety briefings and uphold a strong safety culture at all times.
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
Requirements
Education and Work Experience Requirements:
- High School diploma or equivalent; specialized training in wind turbine technology or related field preferred.
- 2-4 years of experience in wind turbine maintenance or a related field.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required:
- Take reasonable care of your own and others’ health and safety and of those who may be affected by the day-to-day delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward the company’s Zero Injury principles
- Proficiency in troubleshooting, diagnosing, and repairing wind turbine systems
- Strong teamwork, leadership, and communication skills
- Required to travel to different jobsites on a limited notice
- Proven ability to work in a safety-first environment with proactive safety behaviors.
Working Environment:
- Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions
- Frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; and extreme heat
- Occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and vibration
- Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
