Course: Strength of Materials Lab
This laboratory course supports the Strength of Materials class by reinforcing the fundamental principles of mechanics that govern the behavior of materials under loads. Through hands-on experiments and practical applications, students explore and understand key concepts such as stress and strain, stress-load relationships, load deformation, and moments, including axial, torsion, and bending, along with various modes of failure, including yielding, fatigue, fracture, and rupture. The lab offers practical experience with the fundamentals of mechanics, the behavior of deformable bodies, and the application of Mohr's circle and Hooke's law.
What You Will Do:
- Facilitate classroom lecture and discussions
- Engage students in learning course objectives and topics
- Assess student performance and mentor success in the classroom
- Provide a positive example to students by supporting the University’s Doctrinal Statement, Ethical Position Statement, and Mission of Grand Canyon University
Qualifications:
Minimum: Master's in Civil Engineering or related field
Preferred: PhD in Civil Engineering or related field, a Civil Engineer PE, and 5 years of experience
