Join the Leadership Team at a Thriving Christchurch Venue
The Bealey Quarter is a high-volume hospitality venue in Christchurch featuring a busy restaurant, sports bar, private function spaces, and onsite accommodation. The venue serves a diverse mix of locals, corporate guests, tourists, and large groups across breakfast, lunch, dinner, live sporting events, and private functions.
We're looking for an experienced Duty Manager to support the day-to-day running of the venue, leading the floor across our restaurant, sports bar, and function spaces while delivering an outstanding guest experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day operations across the restaurant, sports bar, and function spaces
- Lead front-of-house teams on shift, allocating duties and coaching staff
- Manage opening/closing procedures, cash handling, and venue security
- Coordinate private functions, corporate events, and group bookings from setup to completion
- Oversee high-volume trading periods, including major live sporting events
- Assist with staff training, onboarding, and team culture
- Handle guest enquiries and complaints with professional service recovery
- Support labour management and shift planning
- Monitor stock levels, complete orders, and minimise stock loss through effective inventory control
- Liaise with the kitchen team to maintain food quality and service flow
- Ensure compliance with alcohol service, food safety, and health & safety regulations
- Support the Venue Manager with reporting and continuous improvement initiatives
What We're Looking For
- Current New Zealand Manager's Certificate (in date)
- Minimum 2 years' experience in a similar management role in a busy hospitality venue
- Full availability including mornings, evenings, weekends, public holidays, and major events
- Strong leadership skills and the ability to motivate a team
- Excellent customer service and communication skills
- Proven ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Experience managing restaurant, bar, and function operations
- Sound knowledge of responsible alcohol service, food safety, and health & safety requirements
- Strong organisational skills, including cash handling, stock control, and shift management
