About Scatec
At Scatec, you get to work on something that matters. We develop, build, own, and operate renewable energy solutions that accelerate access to reliable and affordable clean energy. At the heart of everything we do is our belief that we bring the energy — the energy for change, connection, and growth. It shapes how we collaborate, innovate, and create impact together. If you are looking for a role where your contribution is visible, your development matters, and your work supports a more sustainable future, Scatec may be the right place for you.

Why this role matters
As Scatec continues to grow its renewable energy portfolio across Europe, we are building our own asset-backed trading capability to capture more value, strengthen market access, and support long-term growth. As Head of Renewables Trading, Europe, you will play a key role in establishing and leading this capability, shaping how we trade power across multiple markets and enabling the transition from outsourced trading to an in-house platform. The desk trades the output of Scatec’s own wind, solar and storage assets in physical short-term power markets. This is not a proprietary trading role. The role is based in Oslo, reports to the SVP Merchant Markets & Portfolio and involves regular travel to Bucharest and new markets.
What you’ll be doing
- Design the European desk model: a main desk in Bucharest, with automation, shift cover or local support for each market
- Lead trading of Scatec’s European wind and solar portfolio in physical day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets
- Take the portfolio from outsourced trading to trading in Scatec’s own name, starting in Romania.
- Own the trading systems and data agenda with Digital & IT, including automation, ETRM and data.
- Build and lead the team, and steer trading performance within approved risk limits.
- Lead market entry in Poland and further markets: assess the value at stake, decide what to build in-house or buy, and implement.
What you’ll gain
- A unique opportunity to build and lead Scatec's renewable power trading capability in Europe.
- Significant influence on strategy, market entry decisions, operating model design, and commercial performance.
- Collaboration with senior leaders across Merchant Markets & Portfolio, Asset Management, Finance, and Digital functions.
- Exposure to a growing international renewable energy portfolio at the forefront of the energy transition.
What you’ll bring
- Master’s degree in engineering, economics, finance or another quantitative field.
- 8+ years in European power markets, incl. asset-backed short-term trading of renewables and/or storage, e.g. at a utility, independent power producer or route-to-market provider.
- Solid understanding of physical day-ahead, intraday and balancing markets, renewable route-to-market and price/volume risk.
- Track record of building or scaling a trading team or desk and of setting up trading or operations in new markets, incl. build-vs-buy decisions.
- Recent hands-on experience with automated or algorithmic short-term trading and with data and coding tools (e.g. Python, SQL); experience implementing trading systems with IT/data teams
- Language: Fluent both written and spoken in English; Norwegian and/or Romanian an advantage.
