  • Review and challenge portfolio performance and risk exposures across economic value, earnings sensitivity, capital at risk, spread risk, and various valuation dimensions.
  • Assess the effectiveness of portfolio hedging strategies, including the use of derivatives intended to manage interest rate risk.
  • Assess emerging regulatory developments and determine their impact on the Bank's risk management framework.
  • Escalate significant concerns, emerging risks, or limit breaches to senior management and relevant governance committees.
  • Review balance sheet strategies and evaluate potential impacts to earnings, economic value, capital, and liquidity risk profiles.
  • Evaluate portfolio sensitivity to changes in interest rates, yield curve shape, basis risk, spread movements, volatility, mortgage prepayments, and customer behavior assumptions.
  • Ensure adherence to applicable regulatory requirements and industry guidance related to interest rate risk and balance sheet risk management.
  • Support regulatory examinations, audits, and ongoing supervisory engagement activities.
  • Communicate risk positions, emerging concerns, and recommendations to senior management and governance committees.
  • Provide effective challenge to first-line business partners and effective partnership with second-line credit risk partners while maintaining constructive relationships.
  • Assess the effectiveness of controls and identify opportunities to strengthen the risk management framework.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and subject matter expert on non-traded market risk matters.
  • Influence strategic decisions through independent risk perspectives and recommendations.

  • 10+ years of experience in Treasury, Asset Liability Management (ALM), Interest Rate Risk Management, Non-Traded Market Risk, Market Risk, or related disciplines.
  • Strong understanding of Interest Rate Risk in the Banking Book (IRRBB), balance sheet management, and treasury risk management investment practices, including specific asset classes within the investment portfolio (e.g. MBS, CLO, CMBS)
  • Experience evaluating interest rate risk measurement methodologies, behavioral assumptions, and hedging strategies.
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience presenting to senior executives and governance committees.

Preferred

  • Advanced degree (MBA, Master's, or equivalent).
  • Professional designation such as CFA, FRM, or PRM.
  • Familiarity with U.S. regulatory guidance and expectations related to interest rate risk and asset-liability management, including Reg YY, SR 10-1, SR 96-13, and related supervisory guidance.

Leadership Expectations

  • Lead with integrity and sound judgment while maintaining an independent risk perspective.
  • Build and develop strong teams, as well as strong relationships across the organization.
  • Drive enhancements to risk governance, reporting, and oversight practices to support the Bank's growth and evolving risk profile.
  • Foster a strong culture of risk management, accountability, and continuous improvement.
