Head of Strategy and Transformation

Defence and security are changing fast. Demand is increasing and technology is reshaping what is possible. Saab – and Naval Combat Systems – are investing for growth and adapting to this shift. 

To succeed, we need to be clearer in our direction, more deliberate in our choices and more consistent in how we execute. That is why we are establishing a dedicated Strategy & Transformation function – and we are now looking for a senior leader to build and lead it. 

Your role 

As Head of Strategy & Transformation, you will make sure that our strategy is realised in how we prioritise, invest and work – not just in how we talk. 

You will have overall responsibility for the NCS strategic plan and mid‑ to long‑term roadmap, and for turning this into a focused transformation agenda across our Product Units and global roles. You will help us choose where to focus, what to build, how to organise and in which order to move. 

You will work closely with Product Units such as Fire Control System and Combat Systems, as well as Portfolio & Modularisation, Governance & Operations, global roles and Marketing & Sales. You report to the Head of Strategy, Portfolio & Governance.

Together with the BU leadership and line organisation, you will for example: 

• Shape and maintain NCS roadmaps for growth, capabilities and investments, based on market, customer and technology developments 

• Bring together initiatives from our Product Units and global roles into a coherent portfolio with clear priorities and sequencing 

• Support critical decisions on portfolio, industrial footprint, operating model and ways of working 

• Establish a practical approach to follow‑up on progress, benefits and KPIs – and adjust when reality changes 

• Help leaders and teams navigate change so that new structures and processes actually take hold

Your profile 

You are a senior leader with solid experience from driving strategy and transformation in complex, technology‑intensive organisations. You are used to working with executive teams, and you bring both strategic perspective and a grounded understanding of how businesses really change. 

We believe you have: 

• Documented experience from leading a business, product area or major transformation, with clear accountability for results 

• Background from high‑tech, industrial or system‑driven environments with many stakeholders and interfaces 

• Proven ability to develop and implement strategies, portfolios or roadmaps and to follow up on value and effects 

• Strong analytical skills and sound judgement, with the ability to frame options and trade‑offs for senior decision‑makers 

• Well‑developed communication skills, and the ability to create clarity and alignment across different parts of an organisation 

As a leader, you are pragmatic and steady. You listen, you build confidence, and you are prepared to challenge when needed. You are motivated by long‑term impact, not quick wins, and you take pride in helping others succeed around you. 

This position requires that you pass a security vetting based on the current regulations around/of security protection. For positions requiring security clearance additional obligations on citizenship may apply.
