Job Description Summary

‎ 

The Director, Clinical Technology Systems (Applications) provides strategic and operational leadership for Mosaic Health’s portfolio of clinical applications and technology platforms. This role is accountable for ensuring clinical systems are reliable, scalable, integrated, and optimized to support high-quality patient care, efficient clinical workflows, and the organization’s advanced primary care and value-based care objectives.
The Director partners closely with clinical, operational, technology, data, and executive leaders to translate business and care delivery needs into effective technology solutions. This position oversees the full lifecycle of clinical applications—including strategy, implementation, configuration, integration, optimization, governance, vendor management, and ongoing support—and leads the team responsible for delivering these capabilities across the organization.
The Director will build and lead a high-performing clinical applications team, establish effective governance and operating processes, and ensure clinical technology investments deliver measurable improvements in care quality, provider experience, operational efficiency, and organizational performance.

‎ 

Clinical Applications Strategy & Governance  

  • Develop and execute the clinical applications strategy and roadmap in support of Mosaic Health’s advanced primary care, value-based care, and organizational objectives. 
  • Establish and lead governance processes for prioritizing clinical technology investments, enhancements, integrations, and application of lifecycle decisions. 
  • Maintain a comprehensive portfolio of clinical applications and establish clear standards for platform ownership, configuration, documentation, support, and lifecycle management. 
  • Partner with executive, clinical, operational, and technology leaders to translate organizational priorities into scalable technology solutions. 
  • Evaluate emerging clinical technologies and recommend investments based on clinical value, operational impact, scalability, risk, and total cost of ownership. 

Clinical Application Management &Optimization 

  • Lead the selection, implementation, configuration, optimization, and ongoing management of clinical applications, including: 
  • Electronic health record (EHR) systems 
  • Care management platforms 
  • Population health and value-based care applications 
  • Telehealth and virtual care technologies 
  • Clinical workflow and decision-support tools 
  • Patient engagement and related clinical platforms 
  • Ensure applications are configured to support effective clinical workflows, standardized processes, patient safety, regulatory requirements, and high-quality end-user experience. 
  • Establish processes for intake, prioritization, testing, deployment, release management, and ongoing optimization of clinical application enhancements. 
  • Lead major system implementations, upgrades, migrations, consolidations, and technology transformation initiatives. 
  • Monitor application performance, adoption, utilization, and support trends and proactively address opportunities for improvement. 

 

Integration, Interoperability & Data Integrity  

  • Partner with enterprise technology and data teams to ensure interoperability across clinical applications and Mosaic Health’s broader technology ecosystem. 
  • Support reliable exchange of clinical information across internal systems, external partners, health information exchanges, laboratories, pharmacies, payers, and other healthcare organizations. 
  • Promote appropriate use of healthcare interoperability standards and technologies, including APIs, HL7, FHIR, and related integration frameworks. 
  • Establish controls and processes that support clinical data quality, integrity, consistency, and availability. 
  • Collaborate with Analytics and Data teams to ensure clinical systems produce reliable, accessible data for quality measurement, operational reporting, population health, and value-based care programs. 

Clinical & Operational Partnership  

  • Serve as a trusted technology partner to clinical and operational leaders, ensuring technology decisions reflect frontline workflows and organizational priorities. 
  • Partner with physicians, advanced practice providers, nursing, care management, operations, and other stakeholders to identify workflow challenges and technology-enabled solutions. 
  • Facilitate clinical application governance forums and cross-functional decision-making processes. 
  • Promote standardization of clinical workflows and technology configurations while appropriately accommodating business and clinical requirements. 
  • Lead change management, stakeholder engagement, communication, training, and adoption strategies associated with significant application initiatives. 

Vendor Strategy and Management  

  • Manage strategic relationships with clinical technology vendors and ensure accountability for service quality, product performance, issue resolution, roadmap alignment, and contractual commitments. 
  • Participate in vendor selection, contract evaluation, renewal decisions, and technology procurement in partnership with Procurement, Legal, Finance, and IT. 
  • Evaluate vendor performance and identify opportunities to consolidate applications, reduce technical complexity, improve capabilities, and optimize technology spend. 
  • Maintain awareness of vendor product roadmaps and healthcare technology trends that may affect Mosaic Health’s clinical technology strategy. 

Compliance, Security & Risk Management 

  • Ensure clinical applications and associated processes support compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, contractual requirements, privacy standards, and organizational policies. 
  • Partner with Security, Privacy, Legal, Compliance, and IT teams to ensure appropriate safeguards for protected health information and other sensitive data. 
  • Support compliance with applicable requirements, including HIPAA, HITECH, CMS requirements, interoperability regulations, and related healthcare standards. 
  • Establish appropriate application controls, access governance, change-management practices, business continuity procedures, and audit readiness. 
  • Identify and mitigate clinical, operational, technology, and vendor risks associated with the clinical application portfolio. 

Leadership & Team Development 

  • Build, develop, and lead a high-performing team of clinical application specialists, analysts, informaticists, and technical professionals. 
  • Establish clear roles, operating standards, performance expectations, and professional development plans for the clinical applications organization. 
  • Develop team capabilities in application management, clinical workflow analysis, system configuration, implementation, optimization, and stakeholder engagement. 
  • Foster a culture of accountability, service, continuous improvement, collaboration, and clinical excellence. 
  • Manage organizational capacity and resource allocation across operational support, optimization, and strategic initiatives. 

Performance & Continuous Improvement 

  • Establish key performance indicators for clinical applications, including system reliability, adoption, user satisfaction, workflow efficiency, support performance, and business outcomes. 
  • Evaluate and communicate the impact of clinical technology initiatives on care quality, patient safety, provider experience, patient experience, operational efficiency, and financial performance. 
  • Use quantitative and qualitative data to identify opportunities for application optimization and process improvement. 
  • Provide executive-level reporting on clinical application performance, strategic initiatives, risks, priorities, and roadmap progress. 

Qualifications


Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in healthcare administration, nursing, informatics, business, information systems, or related field; advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of progressive leadership experience in healthcare operations, clinical informatics, healthcare technology, or workflow optimization, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Demonstrated experience leading enterprise clinical transformation or EHR optimization initiatives at scale.
  • Proven success driving cross-functional operational and technology initiatives in complex healthcare environments.
  • Strong understanding of ambulatory and/or population health clinical workflows.
  • Experience with change management, clinician stakeholder engagement, and adoption strategies.
  • Track record of translating technology capabilities into measurable clinical and operational outcomes.

Preferred Experience

  • Advanced degree (MHA, MBA, MS in Informatics, or equivalent)
  • Certification or demonstrated proficiency in EHR workflow optimization
  • Experience implementing ambient AI documentation tools or AI-enabled clinical decision support
  • Background in process improvement methodologies (Lean, Six Sigma, or equivalent)
  • Experience in a multi-entity or integrated healthcare delivery system spanning primary care, specialty, and value-based care models.

Technical Fluency

  • Working knowledge of EHR platforms and clinical workflow configuration, particularly athena.
  • Familiarity with AI-enabled clinical tools, telehealth platforms, and digital health technologies and their integration into clinical workflows.
  • Understanding of population health platforms and care management tools.
  • Ability to translate workflow and technology concepts clearly across clinical, operational, and technical audiences.

Compensation Range:

$165,951.00

to

$248,926.00

 

The anticipated base salary range represents the Company's good-faith estimate of the compensation it reasonably expects to pay for this position at the time of posting. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, skills, qualifications, geographic location, internal equity, and business needs.
