Companion Animal Urgent Care Veterinarian – Madison, CT

 

A growing veterinary urgent care practice is seeking a Veterinarian to provide timely, high-quality medical care for companion animals with non-critical illnesses and injuries. This role is well suited for a veterinarian who enjoys the pace and variety of emergency medicine but prefers a schedule that does not require overnight shifts. The practice provides a supportive learning environment, experienced clinical support, and access to diagnostic and specialty resources for more challenging cases.

  

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and stabilize patients presenting with urgent and emergency medical conditions.
  • Perform thorough examinations and develop appropriate diagnostic and treatment plans.
  • Manage a diverse range of emergency and critical cases.
  • Perform emergency procedures and surgical interventions as appropriate.
  • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and clinical resources to support patient care.
  • Communicate clearly with clients regarding diagnoses, treatment options, prognosis, and follow-up care.
  • Collaborate with veterinary technicians, specialists, and other members of the medical team.
  • Maintain accurate and comprehensive medical records.
  • Provide compassionate care to patients and their families during emergency situations.
  • Participate in continuing education and ongoing clinical development.
  • Contribute to a collaborative and professional hospital environment.

 

Qualifications

  • DVM, VMD, or equivalent veterinary degree from an accredited institution.
  • Active veterinary license or eligibility to practice in the applicable state.
  • Strong interest or experience in emergency and urgent care medicine.
  • Ability to remain composed and make sound clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong diagnostic, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Comfortable managing complex or critical cases.
  • Ability to work effectively with a multidisciplinary veterinary team.
  • Commitment to high-quality, compassionate patient care.
