Hiring Unit:
Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E) supports all McGill students by connecting them to resources and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement. They guide students in navigating the McGill student experience through orientation and transition programming and by providing student life opportunities across campus for students to develop their interests and skills.
Position Summary:
Under the supervision of the Associate Director, Student Involvement or his designate, the French Outreach Program Assistant supports initiatives that encourage students to engage in French both on campus and in the broader community. The role focuses on developing partnerships and identifying new opportunities for students to connect with Francophone communities on campus and throughout Montreal. This includes building relationships with community organizations, supporting outreach efforts, and helping create new French-language activities and experiences that promote engagement, belonging, and community connection. Through this work, the French Outreach Program Assistant helps build lasting partnerships and expand opportunities for students to engage in French both on campus and in the broader community.
MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
- Conduct research and identify opportunities for collaboration with Francophone organizations and community partners.
- Develop and maintain relationships with campus partners, student groups, and community organizations that support French-language engagement and programming.
- Support outreach initiatives that increase awareness of opportunities to engage in French at McGill and within the broader Montreal community.
- Assist in the planning, coordination, and delivery of French-language events, workshops, and activities that promote student engagement on campus and within the broader community.
- Promote French-language activities and opportunities through presentations, information kiosks, social media content, and other communication channels.
- Assist with participant recruitment and engagement efforts for French-language programs and initiatives.
- Support the creation and distribution of promotional and educational materials in both English and French, as required.
- Collect participant feedback and assist in evaluating the effectiveness of French-language programs and outreach initiatives.
- Maintain outreach records, participation statistics, and program documentation.
- Assist with administrative tasks related to program planning, communications, outreach, and event logistics.
- Perform other duties and tasks as required.

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
- Currently registered as a full-time student in any degree program at McGill University
- Will be a returning student in Winter 2027
- Excellent French, spoken and written, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse student and community audiences.
- Experience in outreach, event planning, communications, community engagement, or related areas, an asset.
- Work Study qualified, an asset
- Leadership experience, an asset
- Knowledge of English: McGill University is an English-language university where day to day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level #3 (advanced) for both written and oral communication on a scale of 0-4.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED
Candidate receives regular review of work. Employee works within the framework of established procedures and receives direction as to objectives and policies. Work supervised may be of a routine or variable nature.
