Description
Help power the future of our community. Heber Light & Power is seeking a knowledgeable and analytical Power Supply Manager to lead and coordinate our wholesale power supply, resource planning, energy market activities, and related energy resource functions.
About the Position
The Power Supply Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating the Company's power supply and energy resource activities to support reliable, economical electric service. This position evaluates resource needs and options, monitors energy markets, coordinates power purchases and transmission activities, supports resource planning and forecasting, and provides analysis and recommendations to help guide the Company's energy strategy.
The position works closely with internal departments, wholesale power agencies, utilities, consultants, regulatory agencies, and other industry partners. The role also supports the integration of energy efficiency, distributed energy resources, renewable resources, battery storage, and other emerging technologies into the Company's resource planning.
Key Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate wholesale power supply, power purchasing, energy market, and transmission activities.

Develop and maintain short-, medium-, and long-term resource planning strategies.

Evaluate future resource needs through load forecasting, economic analysis, and resource adequacy assessments.

Monitor wholesale electricity, natural gas, transmission, environmental, and related energy markets.

Evaluate power supply alternatives, contracts, resource acquisition opportunities, and associated financial and operational risks.

Coordinate resource planning and scheduling activities to ensure adequate resources are available to meet customer demand.

Develop and monitor wholesale power budgets and analyze power supply costs.

Support electric rate development through cost-of-service, revenue requirement, and related financial analyses.

Evaluate energy efficiency, demand-side resources, distributed energy resources, renewable resources, battery storage, and other emerging technologies as components of the Company's overall resource strategy.

Coordinate with operations personnel regarding Company-owned generation resources and evaluate generation performance.

Coordinate environmental and regulatory compliance activities related to energy resources and generation facilities.

Represent the Company with wholesale power agencies, utilities, regulatory organizations, consultants, and industry associations.

Prepare reports, analyses, forecasts, presentations, and recommendations related to power supply and energy resources.

Promote a culture of safety, accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement.
What We're Looking For
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of electric utility operations, wholesale power markets, resource planning, energy markets, and utility economics. The position requires the ability to analyze complex technical, financial, and market information and use sound professional judgment to make recommendations and solve problems.
Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Energy Systems, Economics, Finance, Business Administration, or a closely related field.

Two years of progressively responsible experience in wholesale power supply, energy resource planning, utility operations, power marketing, or energy markets, including experience leading projects or coordinating complex work.

An equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
